I had my first psychosis episode in April 2014 and is currently on risperidone with no relapses to date.
I am looking for a part time job with shorter working hours as i am maintaining a 12-hour sleep cycle while on risperidone daily. Having the said amount of rest also allows me to function properly the next day. As such i have only 12 hours average in a day.
I declare my condition in my resume because there is no way to hide the lapses in my employment history due to the psychosis episode and my hospitalization. All my job applications so far sees no replies from any of the employers i wrote to.
I turned to hospital Job club help but the idea of relying on them for jobs for my life is not somehintg i dare to imagine. They have limited job types not to mention i find that the people there are not very profesional with the lack of a human touch (no i dose not mean greeting each other or lending a listening ear as human touch). For example when i mention my problems on longer hours of sleep, the interviewer with a 'dick' name actually responded like i am being lazy or disbelieve! Check his dick if he ever take antipsychotics some patients will respond with prolonged resting time.
I want to work in environments that are conducive to my recovery. School canteens or environment are what i prefer but it seems i have very limited choice from hospital help. I can't lift heavy loads as i have scoliosis and problems with my spine. When i mention problems the people there give me the impression that they are not bothered with it and it hinders a successful job placement.
Like i wrote i have only 12 hours in a day. Only part time jobs with shorter working hours and preferably a plcae need my home. Moreover i no longer have the endurance to work for long hours. Jobs with high stressor dealines to meet, lifting of heavy stuff, requires me to stand for long hours i can no llonger do.
Sorry to hear that. Well, you would be glad to know that most work in Singapore is up to eight hours long - including one hour meal break. If I am not wrong, the ministry of manpower say that work cannot be more the twelve hours long.
There are plenty of jobs that do not require carrying of heavy objects, or standing. But I cannot think of any job that does not have stress.
I do not know what you want. If you want a job without stress, you might as well not work. Sorry.
do u need a job for the money?
Yes i need the money for my own personal expenses. Food, groceries and bills. Preferably a job that the employer can contribute some CPF so that i can get some additional cash or CPF monies with WIS.
Still searching. Know of any company or social enterprises that hires people with mental illness history pls let me know.
Currently i am filling up my time with some volunteering work. Maybe looking at jobs on adhoc / assignment bassis. Any suggestions or recommendations welcomed.
Job club keeps calling me telling me they have many jobs available - damn irritating!
When i told 'em i ain't lookin for jobs at the moment, they 'adviced' me to tell doc and get a referral to 'em again if i need to find jobs. Just close my bloody case and stop calling me. Once beaten twice shy never gonna make the same mistake again! With such people working in Hospitals, i suggest they get a notepad evertime they work so they don't forget things.
