Alternatively, you can get "Nature music CDs" with sounds of rain or ocean waves. Play the CDs over and over again on your sound system. If you want to save electricity bill, you can set the timer to stop playing after 1 or 2 hrs. Choose the CDs with constant raining or waves breaking sound so that the sound can constantly fill up the room, negating outside noise. Another plus point is that these CDs can help you relax too. I think it is rather stressful on the mind if you keep on hearing thub thub thub (like counting sheeps like that).
