HI-5, bro!!!!!!!! this is the kind of technique that smart wizards like you and me employ.
only fools use those torrent services (torrent service is like 10 hours download 1% of a 4 MB song).
the software i'm using is : http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/
it's free and robust, got recording and editing features.
and to Tbee.........yeah, the quality is very clear.
usually, you search for 1 song on youtube and several listings come out.
you load all of the listings and listen to the quality, pick the best one and record.
there's no background noise since most of these songs are ripped directly from the CD and the guy just convert it into FLV format and upload everything to youtube.
got 197 songs now, and most of it from youtube.
u can easily find those xBox / PS2 / PS3 game soundtracks from youtube too.
CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the standard Sound Recorder tool in Windows can do the job too, but less features and can only save in WAV format.

Yes, I'm a fool using the torrent service. At least I take the effort to check that the tracker is up and enough seeders/leechers to ensure a fast and complete download.
I don't go to youtube, find the music video, and record that 96kbps sh|t.

Nikar 3
check with you, is the re-recorded stuff mono? Because I don't want mono stuffs (single channel)
i haf this concern, as I am not sure does FLV format change all our music into mono in the first instance
later mata come in
no.......FLV format is actually flash video format........meaning it's a full-fledge video, containing both images and sound.
in this case, you're using the sound recorder software to record the music while it is being played, and the recorder software like the one i posted allows you to choose between mono or stereo at the beginning, before you record.
don't worry, no problem with quality.....as i said, if you pick a good quality vid on youtube to record from, you won't be disappointed.
in fact, those guys who ripped and posted the music videos on youtube ripped them from CDs as well.

thank you Nikar 3 for the detailed reply
i am very hesitant of ripping music twice, unless there is no way for me to download one, due to law of decreasing quality for lossy formats upon recoversion (eg. taking a .mp3 file and converting into higher bit rate .ogg format does not improve it's quality any further because the 'source' is already poor)
because if lets say, the FLV is indeed already mono, even if you set the recorder software as stereo, it still relays as mono via 2 channels
stereo can become mono, but mono can never regain its stereo status once converted to mono (cos 2 channels merged into 1 = 2 fruit juice mixed into 1)
