The same question still comes back to me sometimes, wondering why a gal like her had to do all those things to hurt herself and those who love her.
Her parents are the ones who still have to face the relatives, friends and neighbors while all she had to do was just packed her bags and run away from the consequence. Easy escape for her.
In the movie, she mentioned that "singapore gals mustn't drink, smoke, dance...", I think it's totally nonsensical. Singapore gals know how to enjoy life too, just like gals in any other country.
