  According to http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/goal-15000-25000-new-citizens-a-year , there are an average of 18500 new FT converted citizens every year.  Assuming they all would vote for PAP, there would be 74000 more votes for PAP.  There were 2,015,636 valid voters in 2011.  So this gives PAP an additional 3.67% of the votes.

  However PAP did not announce that they would not increase GST after the election unlike in 2011 so a situation same as after the 2006 election is looming so I feel that more voters would vote the other parties since they were bitten once after giving a strong mandate of 66.66% in 2006.

  Using last quarter of 2009 as the benchmark, HDB resale prices rose from 55.5% from 2006 to 2011 or an average of 11.1% a year.  However it grew only by 5.2% from 2011 to now for an average of 1.3% since last election.  It grew by an average of 60.7% since 2006 or an average of 6.74% per year which is substantially more than the interest rates offered by major banks and CPF.

  There are many who take visit by political parties seriously.   To me national issues are utmost important.

  Vote pap if you are confident MOM will reject application of sing pass or employment pass holder to replace you.   Vote pap if u do not care about employment for your kids in sg.

  I see it as vote PAP if you feel what they did for the last 4 years is correct, void or vote other parties if you disapprove of their population white paper proposal and dont want GST to increase after election.

  There are many ways to work things out if tax money collected is not enough.  One way is to cut defense budget.  Last budget, $13.1 billion was allocated for defense spending.  I don't think we need to spend so much on defense.   We could shorten active national service and reservist national service.  

  We do not need so many troops.  

  According to Wikipedia, we have 1,456,600 active and reserve troops.  We do not need to maintain such a big force.  To attack Singapore, a 3:1 numberical superiority of paratroopers or marines is needed.  No neighbouring country has 4.5 million such forces.  They do not have enough LSTs, swimming armoured vehicles and boats as well as C-130s to conduct as an operation.

  As for water problems if Johor shuts off the tap, we could build more desalination plants than attack them if such a thing happens.  We current have or plan to build 4 desalination plants.  1 such plant is 10% of the nations needs.   One plant cost $200 million to build.  10 such plants only cost $2 billion and we could cut defense budget by at least 1 billion a year after that.  See http://www.water-technology.net/projects/tuas-seawater-desalination/

  I am just basing on the strong turnout at opps rallies to predict results.  There were great huge crowds turnout for opps rallies in 2011  but in the end pappiez won.  After that there were netizens who said the number of turnout at opps rallies is not representative of opps winning in voting. Now there are more foreigner given sg citizenship, most will sure vote pappies.

  Prediction aside, of course i hope more opps will represent us in parliament.

  This pap govt can't even be honest on their report on haze.   Walk around the street can see feel the strong haze present, blur.   Nea psi is 80 to 90.   Other website indicates more than 100.     Foreigners also find nea not reporting the truth, they refer to other source for haze condition.

  Without PAP, does it mean that Singapore can be better under the leadership of the opposition? Let's not forget that without PAP, Singapore won't be what it is today. Do you want Singapore to be like our neighbouring country? The youngsters these days might not understand but as the older generation, we should know how hard it was to build up Singapore to what it is today. Without PAP, we wouldn't be living in a first world country we live in today. I understand that PAP may make the wrong decisions sometimes but nobody is perfect, including our government. Everybody makes mistakes. However we must look at the big picture and focus on Singapore's wellbeing, not our own. I understand that everybody feels that we must have a certain extent of opposition in our parliament, we cannot have an overly strong opposition voice as every policy that is to be implemented will face strong objection. For example if the leading government wants to build an additional MRT line due to heavy MRT traffic, because of opposition voice it might not be successfully inplemented. Do you think it's fair for those living at areas with little public transport? Everybody is complaining that costs of living in Singapore is high and it is too stressful, but if everyone is satisfied with what they have and earn, we wouldn't be facing this problem at all. The government is not responsible for our individual lives, we are responsible for ourselves. There's always an alternative choice that you can settle for instead of demanding what you want but cannot afford. Personally I also hope that the government can perform better after this general election.

The candidate for East Coast GRC Lim Swee Say has implied that Malaysian and China citizens are of inferior quality by saying “HENG AH! I am not Malaysian.”

  Malaysia’s ruling party UMNO also hit out at Lim Swee Say saying he is an “arrogant man who cared less about the sentiments of Malaysians”:

  “Lim’s position as a minister does not reflect his position as a cabinet minister. Perhaps he is short of campaign material. He could have instead shared his vision and mission with his constituents rather than bad-mouthing other countries.”

  Malaysia’s MIC leader have more scathing words for Lim Swee Say:

  “Lim is a minister who behaves like an idiot. Singapore should be embarrassed for having a cabinet minister like him.”

  UMNO Youth exco member also attacked Lim Swee Say:

  “A move such as that only serves to show how little respect he has for other nations, raising questions of how he would treat those who are in disagreement with him. He chose to demonise other nations rather than focusing on issues of his constituency. Is this the conduct of a parliamentary candidate of a modern nation such as Singapore?”
