Singaporeans reminded to inspect revised Registers of Electors by March 9
Singapore citizens who have yet to check their particulars in the revised registers of electors are reminded to do so by March 9, before the registers are certified for use in future elections, the Elections Department (ELD) said on Wednesday.
The lists of Singaporeans eligible to vote at the next general election have been revised and are open for public inspection from Feb 24 to March 9.
The revised registers contain the names of all qualified electors as of Feb 1, 2015. The revision is to bring the registers up to date.
Singapore citizens may check their particulars in the registers:
a. Online at the Elections Department website (http://www.eld.gov.sg);
b. At community centres/clubs (with NRIC/passport);
c. At Singapore overseas missions that serve as overseas registration stations (with NRIC/passport); and
d. At the Elections Department (with NRIC/passport).
During the inspection period, a person may:
a. Submit a claim to include his name (if it has been omitted) or update his particulars (i.e. name, gender and NRIC address) in the registers; and
b. Submit an objection to remove a name from the revised register of electors that contains his name.
Claims and objections may be submitted online (via SingPass) at the Elections Department website, or in person at community centres/clubs, Singapore overseas missions that serve as overseas registration centres and the Elections Department.
Those people whose names were removed from the registers of electors for failing to vote at a previous election (known as non-voters) may apply to have their names restored to the registers, so that they can vote at future elections. They are encouraged to apply early to restore their names to the registers via the abovementioned channels as applications will close with the issuance of the Writ of Election.
Overseas Singaporeans, whose names are listed in the registers of electors and have resided in Singapore for an aggregate of at least 30 days during the three-year period between Feb 1, 2012 and Jan 31, 2015, may apply to register as overseas electors to vote at one of the designated overseas polling stations in future elections.
With the revision of the registers of electors, overseas Singaporeans who had registered earlier as overseas electors will need to re-register if they meet the qualifying criteria as of Feb 1 2015 and wish to remain as overseas electors.
Overseas Singaporeans are encouraged to register early.
Applications for registration of overseas electors will close once the Writ of Election is issued. Re-registration as an overseas elector is required with each revision of the registers.
Does anyone know when will date of next election be known?
Doesn't matter anymore. It more like a sure thing with the extra boxes and "contractors".
has to be after NDP.
It's a strategy you know. Give out NDP goodies, all the rara about SG50. Everybody happy. Then election comes.
I know a number of public servants who have already gone for training as they will be deployed to help with the election day.
With the disarray of the oppositions now it is a good plus.
Must be latter part of this year
they have to plan carefully, really carefully.

if PAP can't fix their own mess nobody can. If voters had been more street-smart the PAP wouldn't have had a free pass to cause so much trouble.

Parliament: Electoral boundaries committee formed 2 months ago
in the last election, my house was "relocated" from Hong Kah to Chua Chu Kang. in this election, ...
okay, on a serious note, I wish the GRCs can be town-based, based on actual URA towns. like that also fun. whatever community events is within reach.
likewise, the SMC. the hong kah north smc is a bit not like smc. west is jw, east is bg. ...
hopefully, can have 'Jurong West GRC', 'Jurong East GRC', 'Bukit Batok GRC', 'Queenstown GRC', 'Woodlands GRC', 'Bedok GRC', etcetera.
well, here is my speculation:
if start in May/June, should complete by September/October/November. Nomination by October/November/December/January. Polling by October/November/December/January/February.
MRT shutdown still fresh on people's minds. Maybe they'll wait till Christmas before dissolving parliament.
Never mind when, they sure win. There are enough dafties 害群之马 to vote them again.

marine parade grc will be that small taking away braddell heights SMC as another step becos Goh Chok Tong will be off in 2016 and can fly kite, spend his retirement till his death around 2020s/2030s.

Is he retiring in switzerland for swiss standard of living?
Any changes after election?
Marine Parade should kick out Braddell Heights. It should never have absorbed the latter at all.
Having said that Potong Pasir could be merged into Marine Parade if Braddell Heights reverts to being on its own.
Joo Chiat may go under Marine Parade or East Coast but I suspect the latter is more plausible. At most East Coast gives Kampung Chai Chee the boot. However, that may not be sufficient to stop both seats from falling to WP.
Personally, I hope Clementi will be reinstated as SMC. If it does happen I would fly back to Singapore from Perth just to cast my vote for the party who should be there.
