Tony Tan? Over our dead body
http://singaporeelection.blogspot.com/2011/08/tony-tan-over-our-dead-body.html
Personally, i think out of the 4, tan cheng bock should get the least votes or in any case, he cant win so you can rule him out if you want your votes to be useful.
Then out of the 3, dr tony tan is pro-pap and pro-government. Voting him in is same as voting for pap. You love the way things are now.
Or you can vote for tan jee say. But this guy i must say is a bit extreme and introduce things like phase out manufacturing (though he really clarify to be not so) and to disband temasek holdings. Attack PAP openly.
Last, but not least, tan kin lian. He seems to be more objective and also more proactive than the rest of them. Also the only one willing to donate salary if elected. He lost in some investments but he won in a lot more too. Attack mainly wrong policies.
I am leaning towards tan kin lian. People might want to support or point out some criticisms about him.

Why do you say that Dr Tan Cheng Bock get the least vote?

Yes, he will be the announcer, so we will be seeing him again on 27 Aug. But this time, his job is much easier, he only need to announce the result once. In the May GE, he had to announce 26 results."Pursuant to Section 49 Sub-section 7E Paragraph A of the Presidential Election Act, I declare, Tan Jee Say as the candidate elected as the President of the Republic of Singapore."
ya lor. At GE, he worked OT for the whole of Singapore, till 3 am. I was soundly asleep liao, couldn't dong for so late to hear every result
If he run for election, I'm sure many will choose him.

Tan Kin Lian is the most neutral and independent candidate of the four.

TONY TAn wants us to go tell friends, ..... about the role of President. he so eager to becoming puppet president, xe su yi wo with PAP.
ALL PLEASE NOTE TONY TAN IS DISTANT RELATIVE OF LEE KUAN YEW AND LEE HSIEN LOONG .
I am against nepotism.
The three candidates, Tan Kin Lian, Tan Jee Say and Tan Cheng Bock are still okay. They can be voted as President.
The problematic one is Tony Tan. He is virtually PAP and if he is voted as President, both prime minister and President offices will be controlled by babas, not to mention the influence of Lee Kuan Yew who is still in the CEC of the PAP.
Tony Tan should never have entered the contest as President.
Tony Tan should be rejected as President of Singapore. He must not become President.

Earlieer this year, Tony was very adamant about his decision not to contest in the presidential election. Months later was a total change. I strongly believe the people hated LKY must have persuaded him and endorse him.

All that was before May elections. After May elections, PAP needed someone they could trust to install as President. They don't want another Ong Teng Cheong to create problems for them. Faith in PAP is so low now.

The greatest problem in this country is PAP.
How is Tony Tan related to Lee family? I only know all of them are babas.
I am going to vote for Tan Kin Lian. This elections too many contesters; this will split up the opposition votes.

You can access that from Temasek Review. Weeks back they published an obituary ad which indicated the kwa geok choo's lky's wife parents and the tony tan side are relatives.
I should have saved a copy of the article.

PE: S'poreans to start receiving poll cards for PE
SINGAPORE: 2.27 million Singaporeans will start receiving their poll cards for the Presidential Election from Thursday.
Voters should receive their poll cards within three days of Nomination Day, which was on August 17.
For the second time this year, Singaporeans will be headed to the polls. This time, it is to pick the country's head of state.
The Elections Department is emphasising the dignity of the office at stake. As such, it is pulling out all the stops to make sure the voting and counting process on August 27 will go smoothly.
Besides sending out more election officials to facilitate the polls, the Elections Department is also hoping to shorten the time it takes for voters to cast their vote.
It said that along with the crucial identification documents like NRIC or passport, voters should also bring their poll cards to the polling stations to facilitate checks by election officials so as to shorten the waiting time.
Those who do not receive their poll cards in the mail for any reason can now print it out for themselves.
The Elections Department has introduced a new service on its website which allows voters to print out their poll cards.
Voters can also head to the community centres or the Elections Department to get help in printing out their poll cards.
On Polling Day, voters will be issued a ballot paper at the polling stations.
The ballot paper will have all four candidates' names, photos and symbols printed on it in black and white. Voters should mark an "X" in the empty box next to their choice.
Measures have also been put in place to ensure that the votes of the blind will be kept secret. A stencil with cut-out boxes will help them mark the ballot paper on their own.
There will be 781 polling stations across the island - located at schools, community centres and void decks.
The votes will be counted at 162 counting centres when voting closes at 8pm on Polling Day.
The last time Singaporeans went to the polls to choose a president was 18 years ago in 1993. Results of that election only came out in the early morning of the next day, at 3.30am.
While the Elections Department is hoping Singaporeans will not have to wait that long this time around, it is still expecting it to be past midnight before the results are announced, that is if there is no recount needed.
In the 1993 election, there were 1.6 million voters and two candidates. This time, there are four candidates and 2.27 million votes to be counted.
Channel NewsAsia will be broadcasting a special coverage of the Singapore Presidential Election Results from 10pm on August 27.

perhaps the motto of this PE is a PARTICIPATORY PRESIDENCY....
presidency consul comprising of peoples' representatives....shouldn't that be the way to provide checks and balances?
looks like TKL is closer to this motto...
to improve presidency campaign....their wives could also help to speak up for their hubbies...like USA...Michelle Obama...
TKL should also ask his wife to speak....despite the PE guidelines or restrictions...
