Well, LKY is really very old, he can't even walk properly nowsadays, how is he going to climb stairs and stuff like that?
Perharps it is true if PAP don't want LKY to overtax his body as it is very tiring to contest in a election. LKY is still an important figure head. He is really very weak if the video is true, he have a spinal protector suit and his knees have to be moved and people pushing him to stand up, so his health isn't very good. Just one fall and that could really hurt him bad. So if the threats are real, then PAP just wanted to help him avoid the strenuous contesting.
Perharps most opposition chosed to give Tanjong Pagar a miss as it will reflect badly on opposition to challenge a very old man?
Tanjong Pagar, depending on where, areas when there's concentration of old people are managed quite well, with elderly friendly railings and other facilities, so opposition parties might have already gave this place a miss anyway as expected by PAP, until this band of people broke ranks and independently challenged LKY which really stretched PAP's patience.
Maybe the independents should arrive earlier, but PAP with a tainted reputation should have handled this properly, maybe explained this more in detail if there really wasn't any foul play involved.

It is very clear, the contenders for TP GRC have no sense of urgency.
They arrive at the nomination centre 20 mins before closing time.
They were suppose to do their declaration or what ever and submit their form decisively with all the nominees present.
Instead they were waving to each other and dilly dallying and chit chatting all over the shop. And then just before closing time, ask permission to go over to talk to friends.
Are they serious people?

Like I've said, ppl ever went to contest w/ MM Lee back in 1970s and 1980s. Fact is all except 1 lost their deposits.
ISD has better things to do than this.
