As National Development Minister, the leader of the Tampines GRC PAP team is seen as a lightning rod for voter dissatisfaction with rising public housing prices.
How will Mr Mah Bow Tan face the flak? Or does his service of 22 years as MP make him politically invincible? Cai Haoxiang and Li Xueying report.
I dont know.
Many pple dont like him doesnt mean pple dont vote for him.
Lose some votes, yes. Winning entire GRC, close fight. Maybe 40% to opp, just like1991.
Mah is a good minister with foresight.
i will support him
Lord of the HDB
We are the Hobbits, We can bring him down.
I think Mah will lose his million dollars salary job in the next election
may be he is "retiring".
Yes he should retire. That toad shorty minister is better off staying at home to look after his grandchildren that is if he has, if not stay at home and do housework
He can always sell chicken rice and kopi in Purvis St.
He so short how to sell chicken rice.
Customers cannot see him they thought the boss has disappeared and they steal all his money and than run away.
If that shortie try to chase them he will probably fall down and hit his head and get permament brain damage
can sell pork chops.
I think he sell backside better lah.
At least Mah help govt to earn money isnt it?
Yes he will win (his team) but the margin will be very even. maybe beat opp by 55% of votes?

better retired.
a liability.
I think he's cut out to be a businessman, more than a politician.
Best they employ him as CEO for Temasek Holdings, GIC or some big MNC.
He's good at making money.
if he dare to play one on one for the next election.... anyone can beat him lah... even that Dr Chee bk also can win him for sure...

that's why they invented GRCs, pack the weak ones together and hope for walkover.
That's why we have spineless people in parliament, only know how to kowtow to Lee Kuan Yew.
Goh Chok Tong admits that GRCs are meant to skew In his latest speech, Goh said that one of the purposes of Group Representation Constituencies [1] was to help People's Action Party (PAP) candidates win election easily. There! He has admitted it. The State and its electoral system have been corrupted to serve partisan ends. Goh was quite brazen about it. He said that the role of GRCs was not just to ensure minorities are adequately represented -– a nearly 2-decades-old justification for GRCs. By doing so, he has conceded that for the last 2 decades, the PAP been less than truthful about their motives. His logic was that the ends justify the means. The PAP wanted to put "younger and capable candidates" into Parliament, but they might not want to risk their careers to join politics. Solution? Remove risk. Change the electoral system. Not only do we have a winner-takes-all effect in GRCs, in practice, every GRC team is led by a minister or political heavyweight and new candidates get into office by riding their coattails. The arrogance displayed by such distortions to a democratic system that we inherited from the British may be bad enough, but now, there is the added arrogance of Goh saying to the effect that: Yes we distorted the system at the price of fairness, so what? They are not even ashamed of themselves.

As if Lee Hsien Loong's remarks denigrating Australia were not enough to convince people how anti-democratic the Singapore government is, Senior Minister (and former PM) Goh Chok Tong has now provided more evidence.

Assistant to CEO in Temasek Holdings.
I think he has better market value in the corporate world.
this mah clown...dunno whether to thank him or kill him. Thank him because I will have a hefty bit of estate money to inherit in future. Kill him because I think he made life pretty tough for young singaporeans especially? Well didnt affect me though becos I'm not based in sg. But it was definitely one of the push factors for me because I dont want my children to suffer under such weight of future property prices.
I remember he was once shown on TV questioned by one of the opposition members on why he has not disclosed the breakdown of HDB prices. Yeh one of those election walkabouts. His answer was a counter question....one which asked how the opposition member arrived at the cost price of $70k. That's pretty lame shit from an experienced MP. We who were watching are not stupid man.

Did your whole family including your children migrate with you?
If not even next time when you sell off your house and make a profit you still have to buy another house at a expensive price too so you don't really earn much maybe even made a loss..

no children yet....just married :) The money that i may inherit in future will not go back into HDB's or CPF's pocket ever again.
These days even if one downgrades and earns a few hundred k.....is it sufficient for one retirement of say...20 years? What abt illnesses? One's health can only go downhill as they age.

where got earn a few hundred k when you downgrade..
for example you sell off your 4 room flat and buy a 3 room flat I don't think you will earn a feew hundred k too
As for illness, I think most people will buy insurance and it covers their illness..
I think you need to put back most of the money into CPF when you sell your flat and buy a cheaper one.
Eh?
