Next GE will likely see all constituencies contested: PAP chairman

SINGAPORE : The
Chairman of the People's Action Party (PAP), Lim Boon Heng, said the
next General Election (GE) will likely see all constituencies contested.
Speaking
at the PAP's annual awards ceremony on Saturday evening, Mr Lim said
this will be a good chance for party branches to gain battle experience.
He
said a stronger electoral fight can be expected because political
reforms have opened up more chances for the opposition to enter
Parliament as Non-Constituency MPs, said Mr Lim.
"This will be
good for our party, as our branches will gain battle experience that
will be valuable for future elections. I urge all branches, therefore,
to include as many young members as possible in your election
committees," said Mr Lim.
Party members said preparations have
been going on for months now.
Still, some predict a tough fight.
"There
will be higher calibre opposition, which gives voters more choices and
this will pose a tougher competition for the PAP. But I think we are
confident that we are able to do it well in this election," said Sonny
Wee from PAP Sengkang West Branch.
The focus on younger
activists is significant because the next generation of Singapore's
leaders are expected to emerge from the election, which is due by
February 2012. The move is also part of the PAP's drive for
self-renewal.
Mr Lim also noted that the party will face a more
diverse electorate - a point that resonated with party members.
"The
biggest challenge that we are facing is that among the young, the
middle-class and the old, their expectations vary differently. And we
have to address their issues and moderate them, make them understand
that certain policies have to be in place, and that it's good for the
future," said Eric Wong, PAP Geylang Serai Branch.
Wong was
among the 338 activists who were honoured on Saturday for their
contributions to the party.

Well,
"This will be good for our party, as our branches will gain battle experience that will be valuable for future elections. I urge all branches, therefore, to include as many young members as possible in your election committees," said Mr Lim.
would a party include as many capable and experienced members but old or young members but not so capable and most likely inexperienced members for the election committees?? I tot PAP is pro-meritocracy one?
they don't like old people except one.
this is the same guy who publicly said that PM lee will garner more than 80% of the votes at AMK GRC the last elections. They got 66.6%. Haha.
He's just saying something because he needs to say something.
Next GE will likely see the PAP losing more seats too

What good is a NCMP? We want elected opposition members, not NCMP.

I predict they will get less than 60%, the worst performance since independence.
Scrooge went on a tour to Kingdom of which his stay here will be extended. More good years to come from him.

If less than 50%, that would be disasterous for them.
They are all ready to win big with much backup.

i predict an upset of biblical proportions................PAP get around 45% only...............
don't forget............a lot of the gutless and bootlicking old people have died in the last 5 years..........

Don't forget, PAP has brought in a lot of new citizens to replace them in the last 5 years.

Yes, your challenge is not only the above.
Pple want cost of living to be lower. Cost of living!!!!!
Dont make the pple understand any polices, no use.
Pple want to understand in layman terms. Short, simple and sharp.
And "...good for the future...."???? If cost of living keeps on increasing, what good for the future are you referring to?
I would think having multiple parties that have the interest of fellow countrymen at heart would have a better effect on the future of this country. Parties will come and go out of parliament when they don't meet people's expectation and also there will be less tendency for any particular party to set up their own crony system and abuse the country system for the sake of one party survival. I would tend to place more emphasis on kicking the PAPist out and plurging all the crony infastructure they have set in place.
One party domination have made them deaf to all our problems and only enriched themselves, made them arrogant and unaccountable for any mistakes that they made. Do we have any opportunity for recourse beside this election? The answer is plain to see. We can do nothing at all if they win again, they will simply arrest anyone who makes any trouble and ignore any dissenting voices.
PAPist will destroy even Sinkapore for the survival of their own million dollar salaries and for the livelhood of their own millionaires cronies.
if this time singaporeans still vote 66.6% for PAP, then seriously, we are a daft bunch of human species.
it will be a watershed if all singaporeans can really vote this time.

This PAP is not the PAP in the past.
If you can't deliver the promises to the electorate, be prepared for the worst result. This is not look down, this is fate.

Most Singaporeans do not have complete information or analysis on PAP to judge properly the policies of PAP.
They are only fed PAP propaganda through state media.
If they receive the proper non PAP propaganda information, their voting patterns will change.
But PAP will not allow Singaporeans to have anything other then PAP propaganda in state media.
All must be PAP propaganda.
Lots of disgruntled Singaporeans.
Don't know what excuses they going to give to pacify the electorate for GE2011.
I dun tink they will lose majority though.
Suckily no goodies this time round to test the ground and pre-empt for the next elections.
