Will I be able to cast a vote in the upcoming election?

For years after reaching 21, I had never casted a vote before. What's up with the walk over and depriving me of a vote? If everyone is not allow to cast a vote, what is then the so call democracy in this country?

Will the area you live in be contested first or not? If you wonder why the opposition don't just suka suka contest the area, it costs $15K non refundable deposit per candidate to file an application wor, then if its 5 man grc, die die must have 5 man, no 4, no 3.

Actually, $15k deposit per candidate will be forefit and not refund IF the votes garnered for the candidate is less than 12.5% or 1/8 of the votes. Well, apart of engaging in 3 or multi-cornered fights and possibly some small political party (SDP is not, but DPP yes. DPP? Well, look who is contesting the Ayer Rajah SMC in 2001) / independents on a direct fight, I dont think the oppositions will have their deposit forfeited. (I think if SDP go Tanjong Pagar can also garner 13 ~ 15% of the votes)
Opps, if it is a GRC, and a 6-men one, then the deposit will be $15k * 6 = $75k. So if kena forfeit then they should curse themselves why not using that to buy a new made-in Japan car.

Typical Singaporeans. How to change for the better? But seriously, most of the time 1 vote cannot change anything, coz this is not in the 1963 with multiple cornered fights or where PAP candidates can win only with 5 extra votes.

The present democracy political system seems to have a limitation to field candidates for the job. Either politician aspiring are unwilling to step forward or they are simply apathetic of politics, henceforth deprived citizens the so called democracy process of eligibility to vote when one reach 21. Should the blame lies with the imcumbent party for being first to access to talent? Or should the blame be with the opposition for not advertising enough to solicit good people?

should blame the incumbent party for creating the environment that makes people apatheic of politics. This is because even if all oppositions sucks, including advertising issue, a true aspiring politican can set-up their own party instead.

Haha.. I missed the last election as I was 20 in 2006. LOL...
But back then it was SDP vs PAP... Nothing too great to vote. -

Go to those GRCs where there are big boo boos caused by the ministers/MPs and you will have a higher chance of voting.
