Until now still no news, I guess the next GE is September 2011. (Or August 2011, combine both President and General Election)

ST sorta release some hints back then.
They say its either Nov/Dec 2009/2010 or May/June 2010.

Confirms he will not announce tomorrow. Just 13 days is too rush, not forgetting the law requires at least 9 days of campaigning plus another one day to "cool-off". Also there need to be a period of time between the dissolve of parliament and nomination day.

Unlikely they will combine both elections, it's too much work for them.

George Yeo hinted Nov/Dec 2010 or April/May 2011.
i bet with the YOG flop, they would try to drag the election date as later as possible, i wun be surprised if they decided to have it on feb 2012 itself, YOG saga has damaged them too badly politically.

I don't think the YOG is a flop. It was done well. Only the local population is aloof to the event. The foreigh support is from parents of the children and their coaches.
This is the Singapore malady. We have the infrastructure, the expertise, but the people fall short.
Example, we have built excellent roads and expressways, but the drivers fell short. A company strives to build reputable corporate image, but the admin staff are self-centred.
Remember we are having first world eminities, but the people still have attitudes below that of impoverished third world people.
who is the one voting?
The ultra satisfied foreigners or a now somehow tulan local citizens?

It wasnt really a flop... LOL... And majority are actually satisfied with YOG... Or at least, it would not be a critical issue that would change their minds when it comes to voting. Bread-and-butter issues still matter most in voting, IMO.
YOG quite successful actually except some cork ups and those empty seats at marina bay. The thing is....they shd account for how the money is spent, why is the budget overblown, why no press conference to explain the food poisoning, why media blackout on students being forced to support YOG.
Other than that, I wld think that YOG is 80% quite well organized. That's all about it though.

They will not have it in Feb 2012, which is the Chinese New Year. Majority will not be free to watch election rally.

the voters will remember points in red when it comes to the ballot box in addition to bread and butter issues, FT issues..
my vote is decided. If my ideals would have their way, I would like the opposition to take a few GRCs this election. Then within the next ten years, form the next government. I want PAP and their pompous, self glorifiying nonsense OUT.
me too have already decided on my vote ever since i started getting myself educated in SG politics.
If we really had a democracy, the overspending on the YOG would have been justified a long time back.
I think this is what the PAP means by going about their policies "for the good of Singapore" unopposed. If there had been opposition, the funds for YOG would not have been released and then YOG becomes a failure? haha. Ok go ahead and blow the budget as many times as you want. Who can question your Godly pretence?
aiyah...... regardless when is GE, we know who to vote lah...... tio bo?
if you get to vote.
How many GRCs would possibly be up for election? Excluding SMCs.
1) Bukit panjang (Aiyah, don't say better lah.)
2) Tampines (My best bet)
3) Aljunied (Why bother?)
4) Toa Payoh (Hard but worth a try)
5) Ang Mo Kio (Another why bother?)
6) tanjong pagar if the opps take the netizen suggestion to send suicide squad to distract LKY..

send a bunch of kids to argue with old man he is out of synch like an outdate old news. Good for recycle or landfill.
Nobody will contest tanjong pagar one. Anyway that GRC I feel is doing pretty well with its current party.

Bukit Panjang is not a GRC. It's a SMC.
Other GRCs which might see contests are
Jalan Besar
Pasir Ris - Punggol

Yup... I think he meant Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.
Bukit Panjang comes under 1 SMC and 1 GRC.
Bukit Panjang SMC on the East and Holland-Bukit Timah on the West.

in any case, it's an important that lau lee is distracted, so that he wun help out in say potong pasir and hougang SMCs. in light of that i would also propose that SM Goh's marine parade to be contested as well.
