Should the Election Dept be under the charge of people who are not the ruling party or any political parties in Singapore?
Currently, our Election Dept is under lee hsien loong. This ought not to be so as it is not fair to the people and oppositions. Anything about election should be fair. We are not sure if lhl will manipulate or gain any benefits for himself and his party as he takes charge.
What I meant by independent is the Election Dept is under the charge of a neutral party, organisation and so on.
You mean election monitoring by a third party outside the country?
I meant to be in charge by local people in Singapore
it currently already is. technically the government is supposed to be party neutral. How would you ensure the new election department would be independent in singapore?

Hey, if it is as you said above, please tell me why lee hsien loong is in charge of it. Please get your facts right before posting.

Excuse me, I did not vote them in. I was given no chance to vote.
But is currently Singapore monitored by a third party to ensure that no fraud in the election process?
thought it's already independent? no meh?? although their independent is usually not so real
How can it be considered independent when the person heading the election department is a member of the ruling party. Should get a third party to take charge. With the pm taking charge, chances are he can manipulate and control to his party's advantage.
Strange, why nobody seems to see this point..

with the lhl taking charge you think the father will allow third party to monitor . . .. . .. The ball is in their court.

Go read the first line. The dept is directly under the Prime Minister's Office therefore it's not independent.

Thanks for the link. That is what I am trying to get across but nobody seems to understand.
Thanks again.
The last time when Mas Selamat escaped.
Our govt announced the forming of an 'independent' party to assess the security lapses that resulted in his escape.
The 'independent' party reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and any findings has to be reviewed by the ministry before being released to the public
Given that Mas Selamat's escape was under the watch of the ministry, the use of 'independent party' is a total fiasco.
It's no wonder Wong Kan Seng can still keep his job after a huge embarassment under his watch. In other countries, the minister would have voluntarily stepped down to answer to the lapses.
Only in Singapore can a minister be so thick-skinned to still stay up there.

Precendent has been set. Anything that goes wrong is the citizens to blame. The leaders are not responsible for any undoing. Are we voting the right team?
Bingo bingo!
It is almost always the fault of the people, never once their fault. Other politicians in other countries apologise to the people when they make mistakes but never will our politicians who run the country of Singapore do so. old bloody evil is forever blaming, scolding Singaporeans. He is is most ungrateful politician in the world. He is so unhappy with Singaporeans he can jolly well just step down and get to hell. If he does so we will be very happy
