The next election - what do you think are the chances that Potong Pasir will continue to be under the opposition? I heard rumour that the replacement for Mr Chiam is not well received. Can anyone verify this?
Who is the replacement killer?
It was made known sometime last year but I did not remember the name. It was reported that this guy has been around serving Potong Pasir for long and people there know him by now.
PP is a lovely small housing estate.

I also want to know.
And if no one knows him......goes to prove that chances are......it will happen.
I like Mr Chiam though. Too bad he has to grow old.

I like Chiam, but his health is not doing any good.
I wanted to buy a hdb unit in his estate. But prices are too exobitant.
His health is deterioriating. He is well received by the people in PP. Sad to see him step down. He is one of the very few credible MPs around.

but at least now they are able to use MRT. I was there few months ago by MRT. It is a short distance to walk from MRT to the housing estate.

Haiz price of choosing an opposition. Going against the grain isn't easy.
I admire the courage of the people in Potong Pasir standing against the Calculators (PAP) the last 25 years.

haha.well, it depends on which housing estate you are heading to. there are those which are really deep into potong pasir. hmm, but walking distance is reasonable ah. the place is really very calming..except for the occasional delinquents creating trouble from sass.

It still isnt smooth sailing.
Notice how the NE line MRT station is placed. There still is a deliberate attempt to isolate that district.
The person that is going to replace Mr Chiam is rumoured to be his wife who has been with Mr Chiam since day one of the campaigning for the elections. Mrs Chiam has known many residents and the grassroot leaders in Potong Pasir. It is also rumoured that Mr Chiam's daughter is another possible candidate.
I believe the residents in Potong Pasir will continue their strong support for Mrs Chiam if she comes forward to be elected in the coming election.
went to Potong Pasir once.

people there are very friendly.

26 yrs on and the resilience on all the carrot and stick haven't worked for the ruling parties.

the mid 1950s, Potong Pasir was one of the most important vegetable growing areas in Singapore. The land here had been cultivated since 1830s. The farmers there were almost all Cantonese and they used traditional methods with great success
