Former CNB chief Ng Boon Gay retired from public service: Ministry of Home Affairs
Former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) chief Ng Boon Gay, who was acquitted of corruption last year, has been retired from public service effective Wednesday.
The decision by the Public Service Commission follows the conclusion of internal civil service disciplinary proceedings and was made "in the public interest", said a Home Affairs Ministry spokesman on Wednesday following queries from The Straits Times.
The 47-year-old former Public Service Commission scholarship holder had faced four counts of corruptly obtaining sexual favours from Ms Cecilia Sue in exchange for furthering the business interests of her then-employers. The trial had gripped the nation early last year for saucy text messages between the duo.
He was interdicted in January 2012, which includes suspension from duty and the docking of pay, after he was arrested by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau for graft investigations about a month earlier.

Former narcotics chief Ng Boon Gay, who was recently retired from the public service, will be starting as a consultant with local security firm Certis Cisco in March.
A spokesperson for the firm told Yahoo Singapore he will "help with various aspects of (Certis Cisco's) security business" on a short term contract, without specifying how long exactly it will be.
Late last month, the Public Service Commission (PSC) announced its decision to retire Ng, who was the former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) director before he was charged and acquitted of corruption between 2012 and last year.
“In response to media queries, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed that following the conclusion of civil service disciplinary proceedings, the Public Service Commission has decided to retire Mr Ng Boon Gay in the public interest with effect from 29 Jan 2014,” a spokesperson from the MHA said that day.
Ng was charged four counts of sex-related corruption in June 2012. Earlier in 2011, he was accused of corruptly obtaining sexual gratification from a female IT executive, Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, by assisting to further the business interests of her then employers Oracle Corporation Singapore and Hitachi Data Systems in dealings with the bureau.
His sexual trysts -- all in the form of fellatio -- with Sue allegedly occurred on four different occasions between June and December 2011.
The MHA had charged him with “serious personal misconduct” and suspended him, pending the outcome of the ministry’s proceedings.
Ng’s trial was one of a string of high-profile corruption cases that shook Singapore in 2012. During the same year, the former Singapore Civil Defence Force commissioner Peter Lim was also taken into questioning for sex-related corruption. Lim was found guilty and was given a six-month jail term. -
