i see little point when people monitor and follow strict diets for 1 or 2 gruelling months and then go on for their vacations, perhaps to other food paradises and forget about their diet and eat whatever they can lay their hands on. i fell to temptation as well when i went to Taiwan because the oyster omelette, sausages were too tempting though i limited myself to paltry portions nevertheless.
however, here's what to eat and what to avoid to stay healthy. of course, since it is a vacation, you can take slight indulgences.
international style breakfast:
what to take: milk, toast, salad, fruits, yoghurt, 1 slice of ham max. (watch the sodium), hard boiled eggs (preferably 5-6), 1 omelette max.
avoid: bacon (filthy oily), sausages, excessive ham, excessive omelettes, crossionts, muffins
lunch:
you might not have much of a choice especially when lunches are not buffet.
chinese cuisine: chinese cuisine is, contrary to popular belief, especially more unhealthy than western cuisine because of the monosodium glutamine inside the food that makes it tasty but salty. beware the hainanese chicken, pork knuckles, or Peking duck. If absolutely necessary, just eat one slice of each dish (always remove the skin from meat) and spam eating rice. you can catch up the protein with some protein shakes if you brought from home.
dinner:
ice-cream, steamed fish, boiled chicken, rice.
if there's a McDonalds around, choose a plain vanilla cone rather than one with chocolate sauce. but never indulge in milkshakes. they are the storeroom for fat.
Point noted. I will be going to Taiwan in a week... So... haha
Frankly speaking.... most people's mentality is eat first, exercise later. That's edged into our minds whenever we are abroad to enjoy ourselves.
if in this case, to "eat" is to consume unhealthy food, you either do
1) eat first, exercise later but 3 times harder
2) do not eat, exercise normally
Yea...I come across that before.... Haiz...
you exist.. you do not live...
Sad case...

success comes with sacrifice. anyway, it depends on what you are living for... if you personally do not like food like char kway teow, fried food etc., there's no way you will be feeling bad about not eating those food.
Have to look at the big picture....yea....

Back to taiwan this summer 'cos my trip previously was cancelled... Hope this time I will enjoy the trip to the fullest!
you guys have been suckered into the shit that people with 'power'/'knowledge' of various sorts have been feeding to the 'society'. mainly so that it will
1) make your life miserable. BUT the misery is for 'the better of the self'
2) give the people with 'power' yet MORE 'power'. and sometimes, money
big picture. that's exactly what you are NOT looking at.

Too chim la... maybe just live life the way you want it to be can already....
U need not be bothered with how the others react to it...
are you sure any of us here are living according to how we want it?
what do 'we' as individuals want? why do we want what we want. who is telling us what we 'should' want? and why the fuck are we listening (often times subconsciously) to others telling us what we want?
do we actually have a mind of our own to think about what we would like? or are we just mere 'products' of the 'society'.
Watever...
