what about 2nd hand smokers ?
maybe some of you don't smoke but have to tahan the smoke from your friends or families member. 2nd hand smokes also affect pregnancy and lung cancer.
it also destroy the earth dunno what lah, making the earth hotter by each day.

i mean you see ah, drugs are illegal rite, then why cigarettes are legal ? just cuz gahmen can make many many $$ out of the tax ? that will also mean gahmen irresponsible right ? cuz s/he don't care about the health of his people, tio boh ?
now gahmen coming up with laws saying you cannot smoke @ bus stop, kopitiam and all, and ciggies prices are going sky high, compared to other counties, our ciggies price are like 3-4x of them.
and the only way to stop ppl from smoking is to stop selling it as a whole. they go malaysia smuggle also no use, now custom very high tech le, anything also can detect. sometimes maybe they close 1 eye only.

Financially wise, I would support no ban. Frankly speaking, has any government been successful in closing the cigarette companies? Or has any government really want to close down the cigarette companies?
On the health side, I would support a ban. While one may argue that they have not seen the effects as portrayed by various health professionals, it doesn't mean it has not yet harmed their bodies.
Even if it's proven not to harm their bodies in the short term, there are others whose health needs to be considered. Some are plain allergic to the smoke, while others feel that it's an irritation.
Environmental wise, to go for the ban as well. We have enough pollution, adding more doesn't help. -
If there are NO smokers at all right now in SG, i go for a ban.
If there are (which of course is the situation), i would go for no ban.

Stopping people from picking up the habit is a good thing. Smoking is bad in every sense, you can't argue with that. There is no good sense in smoking at all. Smokers just want to smoke. Simple as that. It's bad. It's costs you. And it's damaging to your health in the long run. It's like too much sex, drugs and alcohol. You enjoy it but you wouldn't advocate it.
Hopefully the taxes rocket unbelievably high enough for me to finally quit. 7 years and counting, I can feel the habit taking a toll on my health. Wish I never picked it up. -

the day smoking is banned in SG is the day when china turns eco-friendly.

It's the use of fossil fuel, which produced Carbon Dioxide as a by product, that is causing global warming. CO2 is one of the most significant contributing factor.
Back to the Smoking topic.
First I must say that smoking does cause harm to the smoker itself and people around. 2nd hand smoker are more likely to develop cancers as compared to smoker itself.
That is the reason why smoking is banned in public places like coffeeshops, busstoops etc. I recognize this as a good start to make public awareness of the harm caused to the 2nd hand smokers.
But what if the smoker is smoking at a place where there is no one? Does it caused harm to people around? Probably not.
The tax earned by the government each years from cigarettes is substantial. It is almost impossible that the government will ban cigarettes completely.
I believe the best approach to solving this smoking issue is to educate our younger generation about the harm of smoking. Let them know the awareness of the harm caused to themselves and people around.
We should also open up more channels for people who wants to quits smoking. Encouragement from the general publics and their family members does plays a major role. -

we know all the warning signs, y we still smoke?
