Tactics Usage.

  fast tempo goes with short passing... just imagine it in your mind lah
  according to FMwiki the stats of players required for fast tempo short passing game are the most demanding because it gives your team the best chances!
  
  conversely long passing is for noob players who cant even string together 5 passes.
  
  but hey, dont quote me on anything.
  
  Btw I'm really suffering from the "second season slump" syndrome, except that I'm in the 5th season. The AI of the domestic teams have completely broken all my favourite tactics and I can't think of any good ones. As a result I am struggling to even beat lousy teams, it makes me sick! I hope this "autobalancing" features get worked on in fm2008 the game engine is making me crazzzeee

  Firstly, ur player's attribute good or not? And got really see the scouting report on the next opponent? Give ur player good trainings (especially tactical training)..
  
  Are u playing in the EPL? Or Coca Cola Championship? If so, play short/normal pass with fast tempo.. Long passing no use de..
  
  If u're playing outside Coca Cola Championship or EPL, eg. League 1/2, play direct passing with Slow tempo (with 4-4-2 diamonds formations).. Can at least guarantee at least a mid-table.. If ur team can't hit mid-table with the tactic i've mentioned in this paragraph, one thing i must say, "ur players sucks.."
  
  Stabilize ur defense by signing good defenders with experience.. Make sure got backups. Otherwise, ur team sure fall.

  Hmm was on barcelona. now I started a new game on atletico. What I have gathered from online sources is that the game pre-assigns every team a score out of 100. Teams with a higher score than you will play lousier against you and vice-versa. Every season that score is updated. also the AI always finds ways to break your formation. Why would I say so? In my 5th season at Barcelona, every team would use the same formation(4 2 3 1) against me but switch back to their normal tactics when playing against each other.
  
  I would like to say that I'm no pro however, so that might have caused my teams to lose also

  barcelona? Shouldn't be losing 5 or more matches wat.
  
  Anyway, try switching ur best 3 tactics around.

  Long passing sometimes will work. Want play long passing MUST see weather. If windy, rainy or gale then don't play long ball as your passing will be affected. Long passing can be played if your players heading all good

  try changing your tactics once a season, you can't stick with the same tactics the everytime, like what turbie said, rotate your squad, like Benitez and have some back-up tactics for example when chionging winning goal or defending 1 goal lead
