Bukit Brown Tombs has been neglected since 35 years ago when it was closed. Furthermore, a large section was cleared to build infrastructure. Rumours are that the land will be cleared soon to build houses. Some private houses are already built directly behind the area.
In this largest cemetery outside of China, forefathers such as Lim Nee Soon and Gan Eng Seng are buried there, and the tombs are of great significance. However, many are rusted, in shambles and covered with overgrown grass. Huge pools of stagnated water are also there, contributing to mosquito breeding.
There is a rich history behind it! Yet, only a few people go there everyday, mostly to jog.
