Police probe for Arsenal's Lehmann tribalfooball.com - September 18, 2006
Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is being investigated by police over a bottle incident during Sunday's win at Old Trafford.
The Arsenal keeper launched the container following treatment for a head knock after Cristiano Ronaldo's shot hit him during the 1-0 win over Manchester United.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "We are investigating a complaint in relation to an allegation that a water bottle was kicked into the crowd in the East Stand.
"It is alleged the bottle was kicked from the pitch. Enquiries are ongoing."
United striker Alan Smith was the subject of a similar probe when with Leeds that led to him being left out of an England squad in 2003.
Former United keeper Fabien Barthez was also investigated for a similar incident four years ago. Neither was charged.

Arsenal's debt rockets to by £100million to £262.1million
The cost of Arsenal's move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium has led to an increase of more than £100million in their overall net debt.
The Gunners' overall net debt has increased to £262.1million from £153.3million in 2005, according to figures released today.
Chairman Peter Hill-Wood has revealed the debt relating to the change of stadium has been restructured.
He said in a statement to official website: 'As well as completing the new stadium we have also refinanced the related debt.
'The refinancing is strongly beneficial as it secures the group's financing arrangement for the long term and, by extending the repayment term and reducing the annual debt service costs, frees up significantly more of the group's future cash-flow for investment in the development of the team.''
The figures also showed that Arsenal's operating profits before player trading and exceptional items was £11.3million, which was down from £32.6million the previous year.
Their group retained profits were £7.9million, £400,000 down from 2005, while the level of pre-tax profits from the sale of players was up to £19.2million.
Arsenal's run to the Champions League final meant their football business increased turnover to £132.1million.

Arsenal boss Wenger admits Baptista not fit tribalfooball.com - September 20, 2006
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits Julio Baptista has arrived out of shape. So far, midfielder Baptista - nicknamed The Beast - has made just three substitute appearances, including a 22-minute run-out during the 1-0 triumph at Manchester United on Sunday.
Wenger explained: "Julio is a very good player who is versatile and can play in different positions - and that will be good for us.
"But he has not played a lot of football and needs to be sharper and get some match-fitness before he is ready to start games."

The England teenager was handed his first start for the Gunners in today's 3-0 victory over Watford at the Emirates Stadium.
Although he did not get on the scoresheet, the 17-year-old was a constant threat from wide positions and looked to get on the ball as often as possible.
Walcott more than played his part in the comprehensive victory, before being substituted for the closing stages.
Wenger explained: 'He gives the feeling he can be decisive and make a difference.
'He is not a real midfielder, I played him in a 4-4-2 on the flanks because he is more of a striker - but you could see that if you give him a good ball, you can never catch him.
'Theo also gave some good balls through the lines. For a 17-year-old, he has done very well.
'We want him to be more involved in the build-up, but his strength is to be on the end of things.'
'Today, I chose 4-4-2 because I did not want them to kick too many long balls, and as well because Adebayor could deal well and win balls in the air.'
As to whether he would adopt England's ill-fated three-man defence, Wenger diplomatically noted: 'I think we will be faithful to a back four.'
