Death of a Salaryman - Fiona Campbell
A salaryman loses his job through office politics and deceit on his 40th birthday.
Stung by this, he seeks to hide this from his family who treats him with contempt.
A chance meeting with a strange man starts him on his "second career" as a professional pachinko player. However when his wife finds out, he is forced to quit and is treated worse than dirt. Until he strikes on an idea for a game show.
His life then turns into a surreal roller-coaster and everything changes. A story which the average joe may relate to, hope for, fear... and will cheer the protagonist.
Cool story but ultimately, a little bit hollow as it seems pretty shallow. 3 out of 5.
