A Passage To India - E M ForsterA book from another age. One where the British Empire ruled over India.
Adela arrives in India with Mrs Moore with the intention of marrying her son. They meet the British and the gentry of the local Indians. The bigotry and prejudice is clear to see in their behaviour.
In an excursion to some caves hosted by a local, Mr Aziz, Adela accuses him of attacking her. Even when he is clearly innocent, lines are drawn along the racial divide and simmering hatred, anger and bigotry comes to the fore.
The result is surprising, amazing, and yet not shocking.
A subtle yet hard hitting book.
