A Wild Sheep Chase is a surreal (as usual) book by Murakami with strangeness not explained. If the reader accepts it, the book takes on a life of its own.
A happenstance photograph given by a friend, turned into a cover for a magazine ignites the chase after the strange sheep with a star pattern. Involving a professor of sheep, a dying right-wing leader in a coma, disappeared friends, and a woman with exquisite ears.
It is a strange but good read, however it does leave one feeling hollow and empty. 3 1/2 out of 5.
