This is the first Discworld Novel I've ever read.
Sadly, it may be the last.
The author attempts to tell a story about a girl who joins the army in order to find her brother (who seems to be retarded).
In her way, she is hampered by an unreasonable culture of her country which wages war against everyone, and her squad of soldiers consist of a "blood-free" coffee-addicted vampire, a monstrous troll, an "Igor" (some kind of surgeon) and other misfits.
The plot is boring and plods along predictably. The author attempts to spice things up with "witty lines" and attempts plot twists which are quite lame (for the want of a better word).
Not recommended. 2 out of 5 -

discworld books are sorta weird. therefore if you read it liek other books you might think its very lousy. sometimes have to loosen your midn abit -
i have read all kinds of books and i guess that was why this book was.. lacking...
it tries hard... lots of "witty" comments, attempts at plot twists, and more.. but.. i kept falling asleep every 1/2 hour... and when i was on the train, i kept losing concentration...
most books which i read, i can tear right through them, but this one... kept losing interest...
hope the next book i'm reading will grab my imagination better... coz this one didn't...
