Times are really bad! Lately i saw taxi stand full of empty cabs queuing. Hopefully the situation will improve.

How to improve when Ah Chee said that taxi driver income is still the same as in 2013, wonder where he gets the information, must be from the infamous NTA, who on one side need to support the taxi driver, but on the other side, need to please the investors aka temasek and govt on apps ride. Then he said, today, taxi driver are able to drive more than 250km, which is the requirement of daily mileage. Of course lah, with a diminishing income, have to drive longer on the road mah, knn...now also hv less time to go see my bak bak liao, ...

Hello all! For day shift, 5/6 am to 5/6 pm. Do most td drives and ply through the entire 12 hours? Do they take short naps or breaks after morning peak? Cos likely will feel sleepy due to waking up early.

I $30 net close shop liao, but still drive, drive to find my bak bak, bring bak bak for lunch, hv some fun, still can clock the mileage, so do not assume that some uncle mileage high high is because they drive and earn money hor. 12hrs shift is yours, it is up to you to ply the road, rest or go catch pokemon or like me, go find bak bak or go casino, or visit back lane open plate gamble, or sleep. Like prostitutes, taxi drivers ply their trade differently, some chiong for peak hr only, some slowly do all 12 hrs, some sit on taxi only, no come out liao, some every 3 paxs, must go kopitiam smoke and hv a kopi, some only play with call and grab, some play at airport, some even go sell property and insurance, some very handsome, some botak liao, some lau kok kok, some fat fat ai koon ai koon type, some thin like bamboo, some hair colored until no hair, some wear like chief executive officer, some wear like maciam just come out of buangkok green........... So like prostitute who ply their trade at different times, some big neh neh, some small neh neh, some bak bak, some slim slim, some service no good, some very good, some ugly but do good b job, some pretty but very lousy service...and like taxis driving, they also got call, booking, street pick....some ply in the morning, some midnight, some make $100 close shop liao, some make $200 still chiong...

Finally, I have to qualify to you that TAXI driving is a diminishing trade, meaning in near future, that is about 5 years from now, this trade will be out of business or significantly reduced in it relevancy. So, if you are looking for a long term driving job, I suggest you forgo taxis, either you join as Bus Driver, guarantee income with cpf and other benefits....or be a casket driver like me, the potential is huge, it is estimated that in 2020, our older folks will trebled, and numbers going to pass away (die) like me, our moderators and some posters here will be huge, therefore it is a big market for casket business.

I have no doubts casket business is good and growing. Worth considering! However, it is the flexibility as a td that really attracts me to give up my job. Your forecast could be accurate seeing the current taxi market now. I regret not being a td earlier becos many td here always commented' gone were the good old days ' meaning many have enjoyed the good times!

Is it advisable to hire a cab and look for relief or be a relief ? I understand there is slight incentives for hirer but wonder if it is worthwhile.

Probably because of more freedom but covering evening peak means no family time. Lately alot if news abt td. One female td quarreling with ang mo at sentosa. One slashing case at sengkang. One td drove against the traffic. One case abt sexual verbal comment. Another case fighting with lorry driver.... " Stressful "
