Taxi driver using GPS

  It means driver not seasoned enough? Very 'malu' to be seen with one mounted in car?

  To me, I use it to keep me in track, together with my road knowledge, plan the best route. It's useful to me as it gives me an estimation to the next turn or highway exit, so I can decide to speed up or form up properly

  I have no gadgets on dashboard...neither using GrabTaxi nor GPS..... what I saw on the streets is a lot of taxi drivers are like me.

  Better think twice before using Googlemap....right now Google is into driverless car R&D.  They have utimate aim of eliminating taxi drivers.  If taxi drivers depend on Googlemap, then they would have more excuses to eliminate us when they attempt to pressurize governments into opening up driverless taxi markets to them.

  Haha...those without GPS will definitely lose out. Now technology age. Got a call in inside duchness Ave, kings Road, empress similanjiao road....without GPS I really cannot get there. Inside like a maze... GPS serve me well in getting into call location Also getting out is another feat..

  GPS is nothing new, it been around since the 90s, however, the differences today is the speed of it, with better phone or GPS, you can get the road faster and accurately, that is why my CT bro keep changing hp from 3 to 4 to 5G, no horse run, if not, how to become ranger, elite and even can airborne

  Old bird sure say where got lose out?

  I not so old bird didn't use GPS right from day 1 that I started out.

  I only use to manual Singapore Taxi Academy Street Directory way which means I stop the car on the road side and flip the street directory for at most 15 seconds and proceed after that. 

  However, when I was still new, when I didn't know how to get to certain location, sometimes customers turned on their GPS...but sometimes also instructions quite vague and I ended up having to take a much longer route due to unclear instructions when road splits (3-way splits).

  However, I must say GPS may result in shortest distance to destination as it is able to plot routes that cut through very small roads.

  Nowadays who don't use GPS?any smartphones with data alrdy  can act as GPS.we gotta  go with the Times or else u will be left behind.

  GPS is not something new, it been around since 90s, and for Taxi driving, we are already very far behind liao and be prepare to left far far behind, when people talk about Abacus, combo+, Macro...I just open my mouth big big...

  City or CBD normal GT driver can also grab. I grab so many times but issue is time wasting. Must hide , wait and press And select quality call... Mbfc tower 1 to woodlands...ignore Really waste peak hour time

  yeah, i feel gps useful when u are in such locations, another is mcpherson kg ampat area, serangoon garden area.

  i don't use phone as i feel standalone gps requires no data, and won't drain my hp battery as well as my data quota

  we yet to have 5g. even if its here, if u use iphone 4, u can experience the 5g

  yes, with shortest route option, u will learn some new shortcuts through car parks. 

   

  however just make sure the gps is up to date with recent map data

  Example Tampines to Park Mall,
  
  My GPS is set to shortest distance will go by Bartley East Road>Machpherson Road>Bendemeer>Jalan Besar
  
  Pax seems to prefer go by PIE

  Wrong way to use GPS. GPS is to help you locate the ulu ulu road or blk no at a particular road. As TD we do not use GPS to guide us from one place to another. AS TD you should know all the highways and how they are linked to the housing estate. For example you are at belmont road and got a call from Victoria Park Road. Use your GPS to guide you to the call location. As such the GPS setting is irrelevant.
