Any method to get rid off ghost?

  I did not in anyway down put Tibetan or Therevada practice. Please read my post carefully. What I am saying is IT IS NOT THE FORM OF PRACTICE ONE ENGAGED that will bought relief. It is the person Karma.

  In order to verify my words, you can check with the monks of the various practice and pick up some book on  ç�µå­¦from Evergreen Buddhist Cultural Bookstore on this topic.

  Btw, the hotel experience is just one of the many stories. Even in my teenage year, when I was a Christian. I have seen how a Christian group try in vain to cast out spirit out of my best friend in a Church camp. The strength of a possessed individual is unbelieveable. Hence, the spirit world is not as simple as we think. When I was still a stauch Christian studying in Melbourne, a dream encounter with the grace of Guan Yin led me into Buddhism.

  In my dream, I encounter some dark forces trying to approach me, I try to counteract in a Christian way which fail to work. Suddenly, I chanted, "Namu Guan Shi Yin Pu Sa." and the forces just melt away. I woke up with bewilderment. "How can I chanted that since I am a baptised Christian?"

  That's spark a Buddhist journey in my life. Eversince, I become interested in Buddhism until today. As my affinity was with Guan Yin, naturally I become interested in Lotus Sutra especially Chapter 25. However, there was more in Lotus Sutra I read it so I become interested in a practice that is based on it. I end up in Nichiren Shu, chanting Namu Myoho Renge Kyo.

  Because of the encounter, I can testify to the sweetness of the Guan Yin Bodhisattva saving grace which is still at work in this modern age and time to my family and friends. As mentioned in Lotus Sutra Chapter 25, she will used the vaious means, methods and manifestation to share the Dharma with the sentient beings.

  For this I give thanks. Hence am I a traditional Buddhist or not?

  No buddhists behave like you here, you are the only one who see it this way.   There is nothing to clarify, the message is clear.   The message is between me and Dawnfirstlight. She has replied and I have responded.   if she has no problem with my post I don't see the reason why you want to find fault.    I am sure Buddha did not teach you to behave this way.     Such behaviour is detected in many nasty christians. 

  Don't drag the buddhism together with you on your ego trip.   If you want to nitpick even Buddha also cannot stop you.

  I only know of one case whereby the daughter of the deceased was very sure the late mum has gone to rebirth or western paradise.   There was no return of her on 7th day.

  I believe gotta do with different individual.     I also believe that if buddhists practise the correct way, do the correct chanting and live a life that is required of the buddhists the after life will be better.   Correct me if I am wrong

  afaik, people with great wholesome merit and great unwholesome karma would immediately be born in heaven and hell respectively. western paradise also immediate.

  Want to ask your above reply is it applicable to buddhists only?

  Is pureland the same as western paradise?   what about ji le shi jie?

  that means those who come back on the 7th day, is reborn in the lower realm, such as ghost or hell? hell is also immediate isnt it. so if hell is immediate, those who come back is reborn as a ghost?

  Thanks for reply.     I read that someone said buddhists do not believe in heavens.     I was told Buddha's mum is in heaven since she receive such merit for giving birth to Buddha.

  not necessary, tis why i bold the word "great". the two cases  i mentioned are quite exceptional. normally people don't do a lot of great (charity) deed or commit great evil like kill a lot of people. so their rebirth might take some time to "decide". it will depend on their affinity/yuan and 引业与满业.

  there's the 49 bardo days, if still not decided, they become ghosts.

  4 types of yuan(affinity):-

   

  1. 亲因缘 qing yin yuan - it's very intimate condition. we have a lot, all beings and non-sentient have, like seeds in the Alaya. Buddha's Condition, Bodhisattvas' Condition, all beings' Condition. (eg human, animal, plant)

   

  2. 所缘缘 shuo yuan yuan - it's the hope that which seed to you want to suceed, like you hope to be Buddha. (eg human, animal)

   

  3. 无间缘 wu jian yuan - no ceasing practicing conditions. (eg human, animal)

   

  4. 增上缘 zhan shang yuan - good surrounding, together with good people, sincere mind beseech bodhisattvas. wish for good guru etcs.  (eg human, animal, plant)

   

  So no. 2 所缘缘 is more important.

   

  2 kinds of karma - leading karma(引业) & fullfilling karma(满业). Leading karma is the karma that leads people to rebirth. we cannot control this, rebirth is control by this karma. 

   

  so people with the similar leading karma come together as human. but they look differ, due to the different deeds they did in the pasts.  this is called fullfilling karma, karma done from the past.

  yes, they can "die" and reborn either in hell, ghost, animal, asura or heaven realm.

  they are the 6 realms of cycle of rebirth a.k.a. samsara. western pureland is none of the above.

  there is a contradiction. Buddha taught Nirvana ie ceasation of rebirth but then when people go to pureland, they are not enlightened. also Buddha (only a teacher and guide) does not guarantee you will attain Nirvana, as he is a teacher and also depend on his past live cultivation as a practioner. so does it mean, all those who are reborn there will attain enlightenment one day? what if reborn there and still not attaining enlightenment, doesnt it contradict that pureland doesnt fall in samsara.

  as i wrote to rooney, other than the 4 types of yuan(affinity), the rest is leading karma(引业) & fullfilling karma(满业).

  Leading/attraction karma is the karma that leads people to rebirth, like magnet. we cannot control this, rebirth is control by this karma.

   

  so people with the similar leading karma come together as human. but they look differ, due to the different deeds they did in the pasts. this is called fullfilling karma, karma done from the past.

   

  no god yama king to decide. it's our own, doing that decide. we "architect" our own future so to speak.
