The Chokgyur Lingpa Foundation’s Second Annual
Sadhana Ritual Course
Trinley Nyingpo & Zabtik Drolma
October 17 – November 17 2011
From Oct 17 – Nov 17 2011, the Chokgyur Lingpa Foundation will be
hosting its second one-month long Sadhana Ritual course. This year, the
course will concentrate on the sadhana practices of Trinley Nyingpo and
Zabtik Drolma. (For more information on these practices, see below.)
Aim
The
aim of the course is to provide students with an opportunity to learn
in detail about both the meaning and practical aspects of Vajrayana
ritual practice.
Content
During the
course, students will be instructed on the meaning of development stage
practice in general and the visualisation stages of these two sadhanas
in particular. Students will also be taught the different melodies and
mudras for the practice; how to make the related tormas; play the vajra
and bell, damaru, and drum; how to perform the feast offerings; and how
to act as the shrine master and chant master.
Teaching
The teachings will be given in Tibetan
by Lama Tenpal Gyatso, one of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling monastery’s senior
monks, and translated into English. Teachings will be held at Pal Kagyu
Shedrup Tashi Dhargay Phuntsok Ling monastery (aka Riwoche monastery),
Tinchuli, Kathmandu, which is just five minutes walk from the Boudhanath
stupa.
Classes will be held for approximately five hours a day,
six days a week, and all of the participants will also have the chance
to perform the practices together each day. Aspects that are common to
the two sadhanas will be taught together in the same class, while those
that are particular will be taught in separate classes.
At the
beginning of the course, His Eminence Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche will
kindly bestow upon all participants the necessary empowerments and oral
transmissions. At the end of the course, participants will perform the
practice together with Rinpoche.
Materials
All necessary practice texts, as well as tea and snacks, will be provided as part of the course.
