chelek is a highly experienced practitioner, someone who had experiential insight into anatta
basically what he said in the webpage is that there are two kinds of vipassana. one is like the mahasi noting style while the other is the chah style which i will leave the description for you to read in his posts. he also suggests that the mahasi follows more in accord with the visudhimagga commentary while the chah way follows more of the suttas
basically i resonate with the chah style and it also occurred to me that what he said is very right as i just mentioned recently in the other thread on this forum that different paths will have different progress of insight, the visudhimagga progress of insight for example does not apply to everyone but only to those following that style of practice. also related post from another thread:

I manage to obtain a booklet entitled ‘The Seven Stage of Purification and The Insight Knowledges’ authored by The Venerable Mahathera Matara Sri Nanarama’. It is a nice little book which provides some very comprehensive information on Insight meditation including the pitfalls one can expect to encounter in the whole process of Insight meditation. It is much easier to read than what can be found in the Visuddhimagga. I got the book from the Singapore Buddhist Meditation Centre quite some time back. Not sure whether it is still available there, but if interested can try by contacting them.
