Mahabodhi Monastery is one of the temple I frequently visit. The old building was very old and run down. They had just demolished and is in the progress of building a new one. The new building will be equipped with 21st century technologies and architecture outlook (see the link below for the outlook of the new building).
They need our financial support for the new building. Support them if we can.
Click onto the below link and if you wish to donate, click on "Support Us" on the left hand side for the form to fill in.
There are 2 young well educated local monks in their 30s and a few nuns in this temple. It is Mahayana tradition. It is located at Bukit Timah Road, opposite Beauty World Shopping Centre. There will be a MRT station near the temple in the near future.

Ah...Song Nian Shifu....my dad's old friend. It's good to know they tear down the old house and building a proper temple now.
wow...that's a very modern Temple blueprint. Doesn't look like a temple at all.
Similar to the Fo Guang Shan building .

Marvellously sweet 21st century technologies and architecture outlook ! Splendid achievement. earnestly hope that the modern outlook is not perceived to be too private like condo that unintentionally ward off potential zen masterssss the first step of walking into the temple for realization of Mahabodhi. As usually in the great old days, people just walked into the temple due to outlook when they happen to pass by, benefitted and also many become great dharma masters as well.
Amitofo
but why this temple designed like a church ? too new styled for me.

Poh Ming tse also don't look like a temple.
You look at Jurong east MRT the mosque, does It look like a mosque?
Same for fo guang shan at pungol.
but this new temple hall is seated like a church. Fo Guang Shan is still very zen like.

I don't think it can be seated like a church. Buddhist prayers require kneeling down so wait for the building to be completed before we know how exactly it looks like.
but the photo is on the website. They have row of benches just like the church inside a hall facing the Buddha Statue.
Besides modern appearances, Temples should also consider conducting classes for their devotees with good interesting realistic topics like
How to be a good parent. ( instead of relying only on di zi gui on how to be filial children). Being a good parent is equally important.
How to maintain a happy marriage. How to release stress. How to improve health etc etc etc...
Just changing the exterior without improving the interior and contents of its teachings, Temples will still be behind churches.

I believe the abbot and ven. of this temple are aware of this. I've not listened to the talk of the abbot yet but one of my friend who had listened to his talk said many people were very moved and inspired by his talk and my friend was closed to tears.
But I heard from some sources the main supporters who proposed to this project are resigning from the management committee and withdrawing sums of monies meant for this project. Seems the abbot is having some issues with the supporters now. The project may not be as successful as it seems to be.

If it is true, do you know the reason why? May be you can pm me as I'm curious to know. This temple is one of the few which is not located in Geylang (red light district), thus we Buddhists must support. Besides, these local young monks need our moral support. How many local young monks do you see nowadays ? There are so many Buddhists in Singapore, I believe we can make the project a successful one with our collective effort.
The supporters had actually resigned from their posts. They are no longer on the Board, thus are asking abbot to return them the funds that had been donated towards the project, a huge sum. What I understand is abbot is having a difficult time now. I believe Lord Buddha will bless this project.

If these main supporters are true Buddhists, they should not put a young abbot in a difficult position. The old temple had already demolished, what do they want a young monk to do ? I believe Lord Buddha will bless this project as I've heard many stories of Buddhist temples went through hard time to build but in the end, all things end up well.
Told you i find it strange that the New Temple is designed like a Church. No true Buddhists will want it this way. Zen and spacious like the Fo Guang Shan is all right but benches facing the Buddha Statue ? Weird right. How to bow during a Sutra chanting?
Just hope that a plot is not used to make life difficult for the monks.
Also hope that the monks have not used $$$ donated for project in the wrong way.
Seems like a complicated project to me now.

Sigh........ It is not easy to be monks nowadays.
