Need help! massive com probs

  i installed 8 security patches from windows frm their auto d/l security updates..
  
  but. upon reboot, i get up to 400 error dialog boxes that look something like this
  
  
  
  can someone help me?

  think ur dll library got screwed up updating.... not sure if there r alternative solutions... but i would go download a copy of all the updates into a CDR or something... then format... and update while offline first before going online again..

  I think if you boot up using the Windows CD, you'll be given an option to repair the installation.
  
  BUt you have to install the security updates again.

  repairing works... just not very well.. i tried repairing the thing b4... the farting com went from 2.4 to 1.4ghz.... or well at least it felt like it

  Guess you can only see this in Windows.

  still cannot
  
  now slightly worse
  
  the moment boot up...the number of dialog boxes skyrocketed to 200+ even though i closed some earlier on...but still cant match the com..

  wah kaoz .. gd luck. if i am faced with such prob, i would hav formatted my com straight away.. its always good to have partitions and btw we are using the same blue tooth dongle hahahhaa

  if reformat that's gonna take alot of time and dvds to backup
  plus i had a hard time setting up some internet connections and other stuffs the other time round

  if you got a recover point there, then next time boot up, set the recover point to before you download all the updates, and reboot up.
  
  think should be ok.
  
  if you got the recover point then maybe reboot in safe mode.

  yeap. restore should do the trick. i am just wondering which programs use the preferences.dll file. maybe the problem is confined within a software incompatibility namely musicmatch jukebox (get an update copy from their website). do disable any folder/file hiding software if you have one. there can be a lot of other reasons. i will stop here for now. hmm.. does the windows still work under safe mode (F?

  i tried restore twice..but it still didnt work....

  do you have any idea what does the mim.exe file do? does it belong to the jukebox? suspect the dll file error was caused by the jukebox. maybe you want to uninstall and see how..

  Using another system to boot up, using current hdd as slave drive, transfer necessary files, re-partition, format, re-install.

  Add and remove programs
  Select and remove every single windows xp hotfix
