i just added a stick of ram. start up time seems to be the same and defragmentation seems to be much slower, it seems that before adding ram..it was much faster ?

factors that slow down defrag:
low hdd space - you need at least 15% free to defrag...but that's the minimum level of fragmentation

Very good tips to follow while defragging:
1) Don't have any screensaver running in the background.
2) Don't use your comp while defragging.
3) Don't leave unnecessary applications running in the background.

I use O & O professional, but I still follow the basic rules of degragging conduct i just listed above.
