Ah..see, like what I said, suddenly this "selling everything" verse becomes meatphorical and has to be read in context!
Then why not verses that talk about Jesus telling his disciples to love and to preach the gospel or to do miracles? Those HAVE TO BE READ IN CONTEXT TOO! Jesus was only talking to them and NOT applicable today too!
Why do you choose which to be literal or not?
Or rather HOW do you do it? You can explain briefly here. I might accept.

Yes. he will divert attention and give answers according to his beliefs, doesnt care if the question is relevant or not. he reads and reply selectively. thats why I said, dun pay attention to him or his like minded brethrens. continue posting inconsistencies and paradoxes here to discuss.

When did I say Christians choose ONLY the easy verses to obey? I said the great commandment is one of the easiest commandment to obey and so if as Christians we cun even do one of the easiest, we can forget abt obeying the rest of the tougher conmandments. Its diff from saying tat we ONLY choose the easiest commandments to obey.

Interpretation is based on context which unless u r trained or taught by ppl who r trained on the Word, u one may tend to quote out of context. Application is based on concepts n principles. A concept is taught by linking several contexts tgr.

despondent,
Thought you might be interested to know that the NLT folks have produced a "new" Bible combining the NLT study Bible and the Life App Bible into one. I think it's a cool move. See http://www.amazon.com/NLT-Parallel-Study-Bible-Tyndale/dp/1414339259

That's referring to the last meal Jesus had with His twelve apostles just before His arrest and crucifixion.
so is there any significance or symbolic meaning?

Jesus at this meal instituted what is called by many "the Holy Communion" or the "Eucharist", by which believers are to come together regularly to break bread and drink from a cup of wine to proclaim His death until He comes again. This the early Christians did in each other's homes as often as they can. This partaking of the bread and wine is both a demonstration and a fostering of the unity of believers in Christ.
