Lakeside MRT -> JW/JE Ave 1
BBT MRT -> BBT West Ave 4
Arguably the latter can be efficiently solved by deploying DDs on 947 during peak hours (this involves swapping 947 and 990's berths)

Eh,Sembawang to Bt Merah what service ah?

Yes but 947 loading alone is around 40-50 pax. It is mainly 187 comes with around 30-40 pax and gets another 30-40 pax boarding at BBT Central. Hence, the loading on 187 goes to around 60-80 pax. This is after 187 having 31 buses that more so compensates for 947.
When DD is deployed there will be a good 30 pax on upper deck as they are long distance travelers.
Originally posted by carbikebus:187 better with DDs as there are many long distance travellers..Maybe a fleet of 21 MAN A22/7 MAN A95.28 buses is enough.
I agree. Maybe should tell SMB31X who is living in fool's paradise by defending the massive rigids on 187.
Wrong post

If you are game enough then you should submit your application to state why you should be part of LTA's transport development team, Instead of being a keyboard warrior complaining why 187 doesn't have enough DDs
It's not asif 187's loading is very volatile like 169 190 966 (just to name some) to justify the addition of DDs like you stated. That stretch of road has enough services to bridge the gap and if I live in JE/W Ave 1 I can take 99 157 185 198 334 etc instead of taking 187 'alone' from lakeside MRT to that strech of road over there. This service is just fine as it is and DDs can be put to better use in other needy services.
I can't imagine if selfish people like you were to manage SMRT really, If SMRT listens to people like you by adding DDs just because 187 has demands from that stretch of road then I guess needy services like 169 190 966 will suffer hard just because of your selfishness alone
Before you start a fight here just gonna warn you that you are in for bad when you do it
Anyways, this thread is for discussing NEW bus routes. The discussion is a bit off, so I shall not comment too much on the 187 tussle. Also, I don't live or work in the west, so before I get flamed, this is my 2-cents. My impression of 187 is that it is designed as an inter-town link between Bukit Gombak/Bukit Batok & Jurong West/BPJ, and duplicates 963 (to some extent 966), between BPJ and Woodlands. It also acts as a feeder at Lakeside (compliments many services) and Bukit Batok (compliments 947). As for Boon Lay to Woodlands, while direct, it's quite a winding route to take. Even between BPJ and Boon Lay you have 180 which is quite fast. So I don't quite understand the long-distance argument for using DDs. While direct, it is quite a winding route to use. Frankly, I think a better solution could be to introduce a 187M from BPJ to Boon Lay. No?
Haizz BPJ has so many issues with bus connections. No wonder too many bus services here are overcrowded despite DDs

IGNORED.
I know there are many others who agree with me here on 187, so I am not going to try and explain to someone who is SMRT boy.
187 serves
furthermore 180 is preferred over 187 for sunday mornings

Actually BP I'd say it has more than enough bus services to bridge every corner of the island though if you look closely.
If I were to go town I have 171 or if I want a faster way I can take downtown line. If I want to go Boon Lay I can take 180 down etc. If you can't contend with what you have then I have nothing much to say.

Terminates at Bukit Panjang.DD priority would be for 180 and bendies from 180 to transfer to feeders.
If I am from college west I'd rather take 180 rather than 187 to CW it's much faster.
So yes 180 should have DDs

I guess some people are just picky and spoilt I guess? Get your own car if you have a driving licence.
but can stop spamming Rigids everywhere can?
i had enough. continue chut pattern, maybe i should rent a car instead.
Bro the main objective here is to discuss,Whether SMRT will deploy more DDs for 187 its up to them..There is no need for name calling, mockering etc..Thing will never end..End of the day LTA will definately add DDs into 187 when the service is include inside the bus package.

Ok I want to stop fighting here. I don't know why you are picking on me.
I own my own car and I don't think LTA can afford me.
Having said that.. I walk the talk.. I take buses... I observe loading of buses across the island.. and hence I have a decent idea on the loading patterns.
Go to the loading level of buses thread and you will see what I mean.
I don't know how you can justify massive spamming of rigids on high loading services.. but everyone is entitled to their point of view...
Cheers!
