i think its just to hit the target and then later withdraw the service because 979M is just a temporary route and will be withdrawn later anw..
^979M should at least have went something like this..

Hi mr phillipC, in the official counting of 80 services, there are 43 + 20 CDS = 63 now. All the 'M' services are not counted inside. Cheers. Thanks.

"This is the first temporary route launched under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP)." - http://landtransportguru.net/bus979m/^ it's not an official release but just quoting
Hi mr smb3163D, look out for it under the BSEP section inside mytransport.sg this month end. They will update it after 24 April 2016 implementation date. This website is by the authorities. 100% accurate. As of this moment, there are 43 plus 20 CDS. Total 63. No 'M' services are included in counting ever since implementation of BSEP. Cheers. Around 8 'M' services launched since 2012. Not even 1 is in official counting. Thanks.

I am pretty sure this website is not by the authorities...

Hi mr Tranzort08, I am afraid you must have overlooked it. The website mytransport.sg is by the authorities. It is brought to you by LTA. All 8 'M' services introduced since inception of BSEP have never been in official counting. So I believe neither will 979M. Cheers. Thanks.

why can't 979M be the first then?
till now that junction still the same... work has yet to be started on widening of that junction

Hi mr SMB3163D, the authorities seldom break their tradition of doing things. If 8 'M' services have not been listed under the official 80 BSEP list, what makes 979M so special to be included? The poster clearly indicates 979M is a temporary service and it will be removed and integrated into 979 once the road expansion is finished. No wonder the service is on 30 min frequency. Cheers. Thanks.

that was posted in 2015, he said 35 months, so SHOULD be done by next year

Hi mr azharjj, no wonder leh. They feel that the residents cannot wait so long and thus they introduced 979M first. Initially 979 is supposed to cover but end up cannot implement yet. Cheers. Thanks.

Absolutely agree.... Even 307-979 transfer is faster than 979M on average. Everyone is complaining about the 30 min frequency and first bus 0600 (for students)...

Some students rather take 960/961 actually..

Ridiculous frequency and I am surprised with its audacity to publicise 30 mins frequency. They just need to add 2 buses and make frequency 15 mins which is respectable. If don't want to add bus, then just make 979 fleet of 8 buses and 979M fleet of 2 buses.
With the way they are adding buses on 911/912/913... adding buses should be no problem for LTA/SMRT - so surprised they introduce with 30 min frequency.

The only problem i can think of is that there are not enough bus captains, even so, they shouldn't introduce a service with 30 mins freq..

Poster is for Svc 979M.. So can take a photo of the poster...
I find it quite fasinating that SMRT is introducing so many suffix services and still "shortage of service captains"... I would suggest that SMRT should outsource the service captains to SBST where they have a larger pool of manpower (like the other time where the drivers boycott the company)

Hi mr smb3163D, yes. However they never count those supplementary services in the official counting of 80 BSEP services ever since yr 2012 the inception of BSEP. Cheers. Thanks.
