Right Goh BY,LTA should just built a terminal at Siglap there,Built a roadside parking lots with at least 5 buses can rest there..853C also can terminate there. If they keen to make long distance loop service terminate elsewhere then service like 966 is the best candidate given its jam proned PIE route.

Only a few buses la,During my times there is no turning off e engine(Pax inside)..And 36 is a jump bus service.

76 should just stay as it is cause i dont considered it to be long distance.150 can introduce as Eunos-Sengkang and 134 Sims Place-Whampoa

Turning hobby into job, 30 year-old bus enthusiast - now a route planner - shortens Sv 76
1. Mr Tan Hao Rui (direct translation, might not be accurate) joined LTA's Policy and Planning Group 4.5 years ago out of his interest in buses. He is currently a Senior Transport Planner under Bus Planning Dept.
2. He has delved into bus photography, bus spotting, advert spotting etc. in his younger days.
3. He outlined various phases in route planning - understanding commuters' travelling patterns and needs, field investigation, resource allocation for new routes, how to connect key nodes etc.
4. Has spent the past 4 years (seriously?!) shortening/amending Sv 76, which will cease to loop at Marine Terr this coming 20th Mar to become a bi-directional service.
5. He derives job satisfaction from providing greater convenience to commuters. (Ok... I can't seem to see how cutting Sv 76 and making people alight and wait for Sv 134 is really more convenient just to solve the reliability issues of long loop service. As many on the forums have said, there are other avenues to alleviate the long headways at the looping end.)
6. Ever since he joined LTA, he has been explaining to friends and relatives the constraints and unfavourable road conditions that bus services are subject to. Has also been taking feedback and recommendations from them.
7. Lastly, he said that resource allocation are based on needs. (Not much surprise here, though it's hard to explain the excesses of Sv 120/121/122, Sv 102/324 and Sv 150's duplication with Sv 13/15/155/966.)
Hi mr simply.90, this goes to show that one should not mix hobby with job. Not every person should do this. End up make many passengers unhappy. Now even have petition for sbs 76 to retain old route. Cheers. Thanks.
That guy is a disgrace to the bus enthusiast community, especially with the high amounts of good routes suggested here

Hi mr sbs6853S, this goes to show that bus enthusiasts sometimes do not work with realistic situations. Ideas is one thing but actual scenario is another. If it gets to the stage of petitions, something must be wrong. Cheers. Thanks.

even at other terminal/interchanges, most of the buses does not turn off engine esp in day time.... or else, it will be hot/stuffy...

Hi mr lemon1974, let's be rationalized and civilized whatever issues that come along. Do not stoop to that level of harassment by suggesting to everybody to bombard her emails. Cheers. Thanks.

send one email is not bombarding..... it is called feedback.. if u send ten email of the same things from the same person, then it is called bombarding...

apparently this senior transport planner Tan Hao Rui was seen standing on the road just to take photos of buses?

Eh bro,Send what email?
Seriously why would anyone even spend 4 years for such evil plans? Now even show off proudly what they did... Simply take a look at the Route Suggestions thread in this forum, and there are thousands of better services out there compared to 76/134/150 amendment.
Now I know why LTA said 4 years ago that they're looking at amending long-distance services...

Hi mr array88, problem is that they do not look at the route suggestions in this forum. Cheers. Thanks.
Interesting, this should be the first time an online petition has been called for a bus service in Singapore.

Hi mr SBS351M, even more interesting is whether this online petition is strong enough to get the authorities to stop the amendment of sbs 76. Cheers. Thanks.
im sure it went through many departments and heads to get 76 amended.. Even though if we do an online petition against it, it will be hard to retract their amendment as it has already been advertised and shown to the public islandwide already. It's like retrieving your discarded tile back at the mahjong table. Almost impossible.

Hi mr SBS5010P, this reason you give is not valid. Last year, smrt 300G/W amendment to SMRT 300 was also advertised and shown to the public. However it was still taken back and re-planned after feedback to the MP in charge.
Not sure Sbs 76 amendment was feedbacked to the MP or not. Cheers. Thanks.

Not sure how SBS Transit works but SMRT does listen to feedbacks and opinions of commuters
All I can say is that it is too late for the amendment to be cancelled but there may be a chance of trying to get 76 to be amended back again
Whenever there is a change, there is bound to be a reaction. People are averse to changes. I am hearing two things.
1. People are happy that 134 is introduced as Marine Terrace residents are guaranteed more regular buses and frequency as 76 was notorious for bunching and getting late. Many times two buses arrive but after 20-25 mins with 2nd bus usually returning empty all the way back. People along Paya Lebar road who go to AMK, sv 76 is their best choice. When 76 reaches Marine Terrace at odd frequencies of 20 mins, you can imagine this getting worse at Paya Lebar sector. Also those along AMK Ave 4 who go to YCK MRT, sv 76 can really be very late at times. Terminating at Eunos can improve reliability. Hence, there are many users of 76 who welcome this decision.
2. There is a small population of Marine Terrace residents who go beyond Paya Lebar MRT. It is actually really small and I can say these are not old people. They will need to transfer at Paya Lebar MRT to hordes of other service like sv 43. These are the people who will be shouting right now.
Many people here on the forum live in Punggol and other areas and don't take sv 76 and are complaining. Not sure how many of these complaints are legitimate or driven by popularism given that this amendment is not going to cause huge inconvenience. So lets relax and let time take its own course. If people still don't like it sv 76 can be amended back.
On the other hand sv 134 could have been planned better.

if 228 people can come and sign the petition something is wrong...
this what people asking for to their MPs in the area. i think 76 should remain what it should be. and also having too many service running around small road in private housing areas is no good for heath and safely of the people living there. LTA is trying hard to make people give up cars but it too hard to do it.

I don't think there are 228 bus enthusiasts or users in this forum.
