116 can be merged with 53M actually, instead of having so many services that loop around Serangoon/NEX.
Originally posted by SMB128B:You need to understand that you MUST not assume that a svc will always have max loading throughout the route. That's not how it works. There will always be grey areas the route will experience as it transits from one area to another.
Given so, 120 experiences so from NBR Ter to Redhill MRT. That's the grey area that 120 has to inevitably pass due to terminal constraints. You know that yourself either. Don't underestimate the utility of 120 at that sector. Being an extremely long route 33 is fully vulnerable to delays and 120 is the solution to that. Maybe your definition of "empty buses" has got to be a real peculiar one as contrary to your statement most of 120's buses are fully seated even on non-peak times such as weekends.
I'm not sure where did poor planning for 47 come from. Where would you have suggested it to go? IMHO I feel that the route was well-planned to boost connectivity between Bedok South and MP. Yes, people actl do take it between these sectors.
When it comes to loading on buses, I think i know better than most here because i actually do the analysis.
Some people see 2-3 trips full and easily assume that the service is getting good loading. And so you will regularly see some people say such things about 116, 120, 117, 150 that it gets high to moderate loading but fail to recognize that it is 3 out of all the trips in the day, which makes it <1% of the times and that can be influenced by many other factors such as other services were delayed that ply along the patch.

53M could have been merged with 113 also. 82 can be merged with 107.

Actually 53M can merge with 45A, 113A and 119. Then can withdraw sv 113 whole route also.
I wonder how 45A is doing now and whether it is still needed with 53M being there. Moreover 45A operates with DDs.
Before 53M was launched, the first stop along Lor Ah soo from HG side would get around 40-50 pax on sv 45A, followed with another 20-30 pax on the next stop. The DDs were well used even if it was only for 5 stops, with 45A DDs carrying a good 80-90 pax. With 53M coming in, I am sure 45A DDs are not required, or rather 45A is not required. The DD can be rather used for full route.

45A can use SD already,53M kapo most of their pax.
Starting next year,Svc 83 will cut 2 DDs and get 2 SDs instead.119 cut 1 DD and get 1 SD.Svc 3 will have 2 regular DDs and 3 split DDs..
Svc 3 will be 15 SDs and 5 DDs
Svc 43M will be 5 DDs and 1 SD
83 will be 6 DDs and 2 SDs
119 fleet 7 SDs and 2 DDs

Yes, exactly my thoughts. the DD can do full route 45 in AM.

What are you talking?
83 was full fleet SD during SBS times, not a single DD. And that was right decision, given the loading on this service.

Actually how's loading on 83 after Compass One reopened?

I think he meant 6DD 2SD was the fleet 83 first had when it transferred to GA

Around 30-40 pax from Compass 1. If it's raining it can get 50+ pax due to many ppl alighting at the next stop. Per my observation, loading on 83 from Sengkang has dropped because of Waterway Pt. Still can remember sv 83 queue can stretch all the way to the vending machine there.
Hi mr sbs6750E, yes you are absolutely right. Congrats. However I expect 83 to get some passengers at the bus stop opposite blk 261 Sengkang east road in yr 2018 when Sengkang general hospital opens. Basically service 83 is a good short TRUNK service and it is a crucial service for Punggol and Sengkang.
It serves all the major stops such as waterway point (Punggol central), F & B at riveria LRT area (Punggol east), Punggol plaza (Punggol field), the transfer stop at blk 190C/blk 298 (Punggol road), the only bus service serving prime supermarket/koufu (compassvale street), the future Sengkang general hospital (Sengkang east rd), Sengkang NPC at Sengkang CC, Sengkang hawker centre (by kopitiam group), compass one mall. All these are important landmarks in Punggol and Sengkang. It connects all of them together by just a bus service so its route should not be anyhow amended. Cheers. Thanks.

Yes 83 is an important service just that it doesn't need the DDs, especially with Punggol Central getting full fleet DDs with 85 and awesome frequency on sv 3, in addition to 136 and 386 in the first 2 stops of Punggol Central.

Hi mr busanalyser, yes please ask LTA change service 83 DD with service 3 since the DD must be operated within same company Go Ahead. Cheers. Thanks.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:sv 189 seems to be operating with only 2 or 3 DDs now. Can someone confirm? Apparently 189 now has fleet of 15 buses operating at 05-06 minutes frequency for full route and between BBT Ave 6 -> BBT Interchange, operating at frequency of 03 minutes during peak hours.
Due to addition of rigids, 3 DDS -> 3 SDs.
Please confirm if news is true.
189 add 2 DDs.. 1 split 1 full day..

So how many buses now on 189 - how many SDs and DDs? Can you share?

Should be 11 SD 2 DD
961 has a total of 3 DDs under my observation..
