DDs for 72B was a bad idea in the first case. Citaros are perfect for fast loading and unloading. The current fleet of 13 SDs is doing well to manage the load. But BSEP should replace the SBST Citaros with BSEP Citaros.

Where do you see? Not sure if I support your claim on 72A. 7429C on 72A left YCK Terminal at 08.13 hours with 65 pax on board at very first stop, followed by 3197Y at 8.16 hours with 52 pax on board.

dat maybe also the students taking 72A from YCK @ dat hour only after the ITE bus stop the bus go quite empty again until HG AVE 9 bus stop then can see some pax taking it to HG int .
try taking 72A around 9 + am bus i think more worst when bus coming to HG AVE 9 bus stop the bus almost empty and the bus from there to HG int. i think less then 20 pax only also a few times i took the bus on the upper deck only 3 to 4 pax and 1or 2 time even empty only if i think 116 coming b4 72A @ the same bus stop u should know more worst right !

If you remember my post 2 months back, I had posted about sv 72. Last year, if you saw a sv 72 bus at YCK Interchange or at Tampines Interchange, each bus would leave the interchange with minimum 60-70 pax at first stop. This year when you observe, especially at Tampines, every bus leaves with only 40 pax and that is because of the huge capacity add from 21 buses to 27 buses and also capacity upgrade. There were 18 DDs, 3 SDs last year June, this year June you have 27 DDs doing sv 72. Of course, that has really reduced the passengers per bus.
To add to it 116 coming before 72 of course further reduces the loading between HG Ave 9 and HG Int. If 72 goes before 116, you know that 116 will have single digit pax on board.
At the end, I guess, we just need to be happy that the services have been really improved to an extent that you will not observe the same high loading on them like last year.

I take 72 from Blk 953 YCK Rd bus stop everyday at around 7am, walao eh bus reach Hougang1 then alot alot ppl board. Until the entire bus full (DD somemore), den no more pax can board. At least better than 854, I wait at 7am for 854, den a bendy comes, full to the door, only 2 passenger alight, entrance door never open then depart. Next 854 comes, Citaro, full to the door again, cannot take. Then next one, bendy, full to the door also, behind got 854E, 0 pax onboard, just trailing behind 854, so hidden, ppl nv see and all try squeeze inside 854, entire time 854E nv overtake at all, at one point became slower than 854, waste money for "express" service. If 854E were to overtake in the numerous opportunities it could, I bet it would relieve at lease some load from 854

Lsk, also to note that 72A was introduced last year when 72 had not received massive upgrades. There were still SDs running around on 72. Also 72B was not introduced as ITE had not opened.
From a timing point also, 9.25am already seems off-peak in HG area because all work people have already left their homes by that time. If you see 7491X's comment above, 72A must be still packed to the door between 06.45 and 08.15 am when people rush to HG MRT to take MRT to city.
Anyway, as mentioned above # of passenger / bus has reduced for 72 with introduction of BSEP and more services / buses along the route.
72 really got massive upgrade. If there's no ITE College Central,I dun think 72 would get massive upgrade, right?

I can't say for sure, but when we are saying 72 got massive upgrades, I am not including the fleet addition on 72B. sv 72 by itself also got a lot of upgrade: 3 SD slots converted to DD + 3 more DD additions.
Just like sv 59, 88 and sv 185 also got massive upgrades.

ur satuation seem happening exactly the same to 72 & 72A in the morning peak whenever 72 come full to the door and 72A just following behind not full people still like to take this 72 or i think maybe some of this people r not dropping @ HG mrt where they drop @ tampines RD after the heavy Veh CP dat few bus stops next to Defu or even to Tampines int. to their workplaces .

althought now 72 hv massive upgrade but hv u notice not all this perm buses r running on this svc daily ! and some more funny everyday they even hv cameos caming to this svc somemore . or some of the perm 72 buses go cameo to other svcs instead.
this few days seem like never see 3349 3352 6648 6650 6651 on 72 also
i think for the perm citaros they r not all doing on 72 @ the same day daily the most only 2-3 on duty only everyday ( pm peak)
