They would not anyhow scrap the bus if it has no problems or have not reached it's deregistration date. It is really a waste of money.
Most likely the non WAB buses they will retain after this batch of new buses will be,
- Volvo B10TLs
- Volvo B10BLE CNGs
- Volvo Olympian batch 3
- Dennis Tridents
- Volvo B10M MK4 DM3500 and Striders
And my guess is that after the B10TLs, the B10BLE CNGs might be the next batch to get EDS.

If SBST or SMRT imports any 2-axle 3-doors buses that will be interesting.
Even though I doubt they will do so...

It’s quite sad that our society has not yet reached such a level of sophistication.
People will complain about lesser seats too.

The standard rule is that they still got to board the bus from the front door rite?

That's the standard rule.
But I have encountered incidents where people board from the rear door, don't tap the card and act blur when the BC ask the person to tap. These people are only willingly to cooperate until BC comes out of the driver cabin to tell the person.
That was common practice at Buona Vista bus-stop at morning peak....only difference is that, its the BC that tells them to do so.
That's why there is a need to deploy bus attendances at the back door to catch fare evaders during morning and evening peak hours at crowded selected bus stops

They will...several years down the road
3 doors buses are effective in reducing the dwell time at the bus stops and enhance bus schedule adherance...
SBS should really introduce 14.5m superlong buses with 3 doors. Since SBS997A failed the trial because ppl complain that it is difficult to alight, having a 3 door superlong bus would solve this as ppl can also alight at the last door. Other than that, the problem of ppl not moving to the back can also be solved as ppl like to 'crowd' around the door area.

SBS997A failed not because of that. It falied because of its difficulties of trying to frive in and out of bus bays.
SBS did considered before of converting all their single deckers to 14.5 meters long buses but idea was shelved because of this.
I took SBS997A on 62 and 83 alot of times. The bus seems have no difficulties of trying to frive in and out of bus bays..
Just that its difficult to alight..

What if another bus in front broke down? What if there are other vehicles parking inside?
It is stated in the newspapers months after this Superlong bus was introduced. I still have the newspaper article with me.
In those earlier days when Punggol Int was new-new, 997A used to knock over the construction cones regularly. Especially when turning out from the parking area.

If the BC is really skilled, the bus is guranteed to not knock down things, since it already have a tapered end.
Imagine the whole bus fill to the brim. Can't get out. Thats why it is withdrawn from 62 to put in 83.
Dunno why but got strong feelings SBST also will trial other DD but not in huge numbers if they buy it

MAN or Alexander Dennis Enviro 500?
I hope it's E500.The newer Cummins are different from old version. The older is 10500cc while newer is 8900cc ISLE5 with rating of 335hp/1550nm.Hope SBST send their technician to UK to learn more.

Hope its Scania N-series DD or Enviro 500..
Originally posted by nfshp253:Really hope that they would trial the MAN A39 DD. It’s definitely better built than the Volvos, and it’s longer at 14.5m too. Plus, they have hybrids.
Its 13.7m only..
Good for 101 but only for split duties. At most just 2 enough.113 can get 3..But if SBST were to buy RHD Lion City DD then they should registered under long vehicle scheme and must use the sticker behind.
