Today is the last day for all these Volvo MK3 buses.

But they are likely to get their lifespan extension tomorrow.
Looks like HGDEP and BNDEP are lagging on extending their lifespan whereas BBDEP had done that earlier on.
Most of the 7** to 8** series JB-registered MK3s have refurbished with shiny flooring. Not sure about 818J, 828E, 829C, 871D and 877M though.

SBS674G
(HGDEP 103) (HGDEP SP)
SBS895K

SBS897E
(HGDEP SP) (HGDEP 315/317)
SBS678X SBS682H

After that they seemed to be MIA already.. Should be Awaiting De-registration..

Usually how long after a bus gets de-registered does it go to the scrapyard?
Like if de-reg on 23/12, when will it be brought into the scrapyard?

Between 2-3 weeks time after de-registration, just like the scania n113s.

Need to dismantle all the good usable spare parts while the bus in the depot mah be4 totally sent away to scrapyard. This will take abt a few days, then once they finished taking out everything they wanted to,then sent away to scrapyard alr.

so the bus goes as an empty shell?
23 Dec 2009 marks the first day a Volvo Mk3 is deregistered
One of the rare cases where all buses survived the initial 17 years.

Yeah.Go scrapyard with the very vital parts like gearbox as usual and a few body parts itself of the bus taken out for spare parts.Only seats and other stuff r left onboard the bus.But i think the scrapyard workers will do the job of taking out the seats and other small parts at the scrapyard itself be4 the bus is totally scrapped.

this is not true.... most buses go to scrapyard still with parts intact.. except in certain cases whereby headlight/taillight are gone etc etc... the mechanics wont be taking out all the spare parts lah.. take out all the spare parts keep where?
Those deployed on 160/170 getting extension?

not true.... in the case of merc, most are deregistered before actual lifespan expiry... which mean that they have been scraped before de-registration... except for certain cases like SBS572 who park in AMDEP for one month after de-registration...
