Its been 6 years since my mother lost the fight to cancer at the age of 50. I really miss her very much.
Surprisingly I am the only one in my family whom she visits in dreams. And the dreams are not a relive of matter of the past. There is communicative dream!!
I can still recall on the wee hours on 31 Dec 07 (wee hours on News Year Eve), I dream of my mum. She told me she in in bad shape and she needs something.
I woke up and at breakfast, I told my wife about the dream. She suggest we buy her 'items' to burn to her. We bought the 'items' preparing to burn to her, intending to burn to her at Bright Hill. The 'expert' at the shop told us we have missed the correct hours to burn 'items', and told us to do it the next day before 11 am. On that day I was wondering if the dream was just a meaningless one.
But on the same night, I dream of my mother again. She told me dun worry, just 'burn' the items to her and it will be alright. It was a one minute dream. I woke up feeling buffled...When it was morning, I went straight with the 'items' to Bright Hill.
I told my father and my brothers about this dream. Sad that they told me since my mum passed away, they have NEVER dream of her at all.
I am wondering if I missed my mother so much that it caused me to have dreams of her. Or did she 'approach' me due to some factors?
Just to make one point clear, my Dad, brothers and I have burn 'items' for my mum yearly on Ching Ming and on her anniversaries without fail.

Yeah I am puzzled too.
Maybe I was the one whom she finds dependable when she was alive.
i dream of my grandma all the time
altho i wont say its a communicative dream
it would be something like what we would have done if she is still alive

Thats what makes me wonder, are our minds making us see visuals of as if our loves one is still alive?

we could be missing them
i miss my grandma anyway
sigh
Dreams are powerful things without a doubt and I won't tell you what I believe on it, just remember that the source of your dreams is your subconcious so anything on your mind will influence your dreams and that in dreams magic does happen - but that doesn't make Peter Pan real.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing that sorta thing just be wary that there are people that are willing to take advantage of people in your position and push ideas for their own profit and not your wellbeing. I'd suggest if you follow these dreams again at least keep your wife, father and brothers in the loop and remember that they, more than anyone else have your and your mums best interests at heart and I'm sure even if your mum is contacting you she'd understand you listening to them, even if it goes against what she is telling you.

The mind is a sophisticated thing eh.
How do u even know u exist now ? what u feel touch and smell all goes through ur brain. How can u be so sure that the moment u leave the room the chairs and tables wont disappear and reappear again when u enter ?
How do u know what u see and do everyday is real ? Do u know what is real ? Are ur friends real ? Is sgForums real ? am I real ?
May be it's getting expensive at place where she is and need some extra stuff burned.lol

How do you define 'real'? How do you define 'unreal'? 'Reality' and 'un-reality' are but just concepts invented by the human brain. But how 'real' are these concepts?
How can you be so sure that 'real' things are truly 'real', that 'unreal' things are truly 'unreal'? How can you be so sure that 'real' things will not turn 'unreal' once you leave the room?
something similar happened to my mom... apparently my grandma (my dad's mom) doted on my mom a lot when she was alive...
then one night, she dreamt of my grandma complaining to her.. say second auntie visited her, brought the 'you tiao' (one of her favourite foods) but never leave any for her to eat.
She thought it was a very weird dream, until she spoke to my youngest auntie whom my grandma used to live with. And my second auntie said it is true that second auntie did visit her, and brought 'you tiao' and in the end cos cannot finish, my second auntie decided to bring it home and not leave it as usual for my youngest auntie!

I think, therefore I am..
You are slowly losing your sanity.
I think that she is trying to tell you something in your dream...
If you think what you perceived is not real...if you doubt whether you are real...than seriously there is no purpose in life if all these are not real...it all goes down to the fundamental question of the is your purpose of existence...
Of course dreams can be very easily explained by religious beliefs(dead relatives visiting you, etc) but the truth is better explained by science. Although dreams have not been fully understood by scientists, most people accept that dreams occur from pieces of things in your subconcious mind(usually unsettled things). You mentioned that your mother lost the fight against cancer. I think that you had been worrying for her even before she lost the fight, and it was such a practise that you needed to worry for her in your subconcious mind, although no action was taken.
I think dreams occur because of a few factors, but the most common factor is the one in your case. I think your brain was trying to organize several confused objects(confused to it, which means this is subconcious again), which is why dreams consist of such random events/objects.
emm.. me too i had a dream of 4 numbers.. and it really open.. 2nd price.. so yea.. =) i love my grandpa! why u have to go so early ><
all you buggers should stop showing off with the metaphysics cos no one's impressed. and the issue here is more of an emotional than epistemological one. whether those dreams are 'authentic' or a figment of his imagination has emotional consequences and that is the gist of the topic. there is no epistemology at play. rather, it is more of psychology. thus the lousy debate veers off topic.
shuddup lar
Find peace within yourself and your loved ones will too. Good luck.
