  I think that's a subjective feeling. When you have the wish to spend the rest of your life with the other person and when you have no doubts about it and you are sure it can work. Ofcourse it's not just what I just said, it's much more, but it's not easy to explain it.

  i plan to get married at 28. have children and stop at 30.
  
  if i still single at 30, i tink i shall just have a bachelor pad and a cat for a companion.

  well that's how we gotten married...tough to explain but like you said, its just the feelings....we were ready to move to the next stage....

  whether u are ready or not depends on a few factors..
  1. age. (ladies are usually more concern about tat)
  2. career advancement..
  3. whether the person comes at the right timing and moment..

  It's not about the length, it's about how both are prep to walk down the journey of marriage together, solving all the problems together and work things out.
  
  I noe people who married after 6 months and happily married, while some have divorced. While some are in relationship for 10 years and still planning to get married. While some have married after 10 years of dating and divorce within less than 1 year.
  
  Just ponder: are you too used to this relationship? Other than feelings, are there problems that you didn't realised? That'll be your problem in long run.
