I am 16 this year.. Found this forum so I decided to give it a shot. My life have no been great as my parents are divorced. My mum is very unreasonable scolding my sisters and I for even the tiniest things like, when I am washing my own plate I did not help to wash the pot covers at the side. Please tell me.. If I didnt help to wash that thing and got scolded for not helping or what, then when my parents saw my slipping my mind of not placing the chair back after using she just scream at me to place it back instead of helping me. Is that reasonable? Cutting the bullcrap I really hoke there is someone truthful enough to tell me is it possible that I just leave home and live on my own? I may not have much money now but I am able to look for a job to support myself. I am not afriad of going into boys home but of getting back into this hellhole...
Anyone help a cheap place to can rent to settle down on my own? I really want to leave here soon. My elder sister left this house already and I think its better as I have the freedom of not fearing someone scolding me the moment i reach home.
tahan... and focus yer frustrations on studies..spend more time in school.
it will be very difficult to do what you have in mind... especially at age 16 and in singapore.
if u hate going home spend time in school or at some quiet place and study. vent yer frustrations on that... and dun giv up tell yerself... i will fight fer my future & happiness despite whatever that fate dished out

Minor things only you make noise?
You don't know what is filial piety,
As your parents aged, you can be charged in court for ignoring them with the Maintenance of Parents Act. The Act provides for Singapore residents aged 60 years old and above, who are unable to subsist on their own, to claim maintenance from their children who are capable of supporting him/her but are not doing so. Parents can sue their children for maintenance, in the form of monthly allowances or a lump-sum payment. The Act also establishes the Tribunal for the Maintenance of Parents to decide on applications made under the Act.
Mummy go work earn money come back tired still need to cook food for you, you don't appreciate and value her.
Help to wash plates, pots and pans, cannot meh?
Help to sweep and mop the floors, cannot meh?
Help to do household chores and laundry, cannot meh?
After wake up, make the bed, cannot meh?
After using the table and chair, tidy up and place them back, cannot meh?
After seeing Mummy's shoes dirty after working, help to wash shoes for her, cannot meh?
Whenever I am feeling low, I look around me and I know.
There's a place that will stay within me, wherever I may choose to go.
I will always recall the city, know every street and shore.
Sail down the river that brings us life, winding through my Singapore..
CHORUS: This is home truly, where I know I must be. Where my dreams wait for me, where the river always flows. This is home surely, as my senses tell me. This is where I won't be alone. For this is where I know it's home.
Whenever there are troubles to go through, we'll find a way to start anew. There is comfort in the knowledge and home about its people too. So we'll build our dreams together, just like we've done before. Just like the river that brings us life, there will always be Singapore..
(Repeat chorus)
For this is where, I know I'm home...

Thanks! That really help me.. but is there nothing I can do? I want to rent a house and work so I can live on ny own..
You are welcome, no problem, dude!
To rent a room, please go to:

www.roomorama.com/short-term-rentals/singapore
An HDB owner who is a Singapore Citizen* can rent out his
whole flat only after he has obtained a written approval from HDB.
Hence, you may request the flat owner to show you a copy of the approval
letter to rent out their flat, as obtained from HDB. In addition, to
protect your interest, you are advised to include a condition in the
subletting contract, specifying that the validity of the contract is
subject to the flat owner obtaining HDB's approval for subletting.
You are advised to visit the flat you would be renting and to ensure
that the person you are dealing with is the rightful owner of the flat.
You can do so by requesting for documentary proof of flat ownership
which includes the Agreement for Lease, Service & Conservancy
charges booklet, Annual or Loan instalment payment booklet/Annual Loan
statements, bearing the name of the flat owner.
The market practice is for rent to be paid monthly in advance on the day
of tenancy commencement and thereafter on the same day of each
subsequent month. The deposit amount is usually equal to one month's
rent for a one-year tenancy and two months' rent for a two-year tenancy.
It is payable upon signing of the tenancy agreement together with the
first month's advance rent. You are advised not to pay more than one
month's rent. As proof of payment, you should pay the rental deposit and
rents by cheque. You are also advised to move into the flat immediately
after collecting the keys.
Matters relating to subletting tenancy such as amount of rental,
payment/forfeiture of deposits, right to terminate tenancy, periods of
subletting, etc. are private matters between owners and their
subtenants. HDB will not mediate if there is a dispute between owners
and their subtenants on these matters. Hence, flat owners and subtenants
are advised to read and understand all the terms and conditions in the
tenancy agreement carefully before signing it.
So how much do you have to pay for the rent?
How many days can you rent the place for with your money?
After working part-time after school, after minus the rent, how much do you have for food, transport and other miscellaneous things?
After no money already, also lan lan suck thumbs, go back to own home, ask/ beg for forgiveness for 离家出走, then go own bed, search your soul, reflect and cry to sleep.

anyhow she is still ur mum.
and u are only 16.
learn to compromise
if she want things done her way, u do it her way
Don't like staying at mother place, then go to your father place to stay lor.
Your father is divorced not dead wat.
But you really need to stop being so lazy lah. Since you not paying bills you should at least help keep the place clean leh.
You think your landlord will allow you to turn his rental room into a pig sty ? If you live like a slum rat he will also kick you out hor.
You stay for free at your mom place, kaopeh your mother strict and yell at you for beinh a slob. When you rent , you'll have to pay and abide by the landlord's rules !
But then hor, u r probably another of those people who will learn their lessons through failures. .so please.. go ahead and move out of your mommy house.
My advise for u , NEVER burn your bridge with your family, come one day you'll need to use it .
Leave the house amicably.
if you ask for advice, most will tell you to stick with your mother, which is actually the better advice.
you think being on your own is good? think again. chances are being scolded by your mom is nothing compared to the real world.
your mom went through shit. think from her perspective and you will sympathise with her rather than hate her.
most kids wants to "be on their own" because that is a fashionable thing to do. But most do not know the details of the sufferings until it is too late. A suffering friend who is on her own will not tell you they are suffering.
just for your info. Sharing Room $400, Food $300, Transport $100. You need a job that pays you $1000 just to pay for the basic, no extras. A smaller pay means you have to sacrifice your basic.
Learn to love your mom. Then you will not feel anger towards your mom.
She is freaking out. You dont have to freak out too.
Story.
A little girl had a big argument with her mom, and ran away from home. After a while she was hungry and saw a roadside noodle stall. The stall owner, seeing her in a sad condition ask if she wanted to eat. She replied that she was very hungry but have no money. The uncle cook her a bowl of noodles. She thank the uncle profusely saying how nice he is. The uncle replied that he only cook one bwl of noodles. There is someone who will provide her food, place to stay and education. The girl was surprised who will do that for her. The uncle continued to say that this person did not receive the gratitude that he have received from her.
Her mother has been providing food, place to stay and education. But she choose to get angry over other issues. Did anybody force her mother to take care of her?

After deducting neccessities, my disposable allowance (money that i can save or spend as i wish) is less than $200.
I know some foreign students (I am a tutor) who have pocket money of $1500 per mth.
And they complain not enough, threatening to ignore the parents if they cannot get what they want.
