Do you need a person's NRIC to make that person a beneficiar

Do you need someone's NRIC to make a will?
For example, you are told by your blood relative wants to make a will, and you are in it.
So last year, you gave your name and NRIC number to the blood relative.
Now you are being told that the law firm of the blood relative that is making the will needs a photocopy of the NRIC, both front and back.
My parents tell me that they really trust this relative a lot because it is their sibling but I feel very wary, because I have been told all my life that I should not let my NRIC be photocopied for any reason.
I feel very pressurized over this, because I was told that i have 2 days to submit the photocopy.
Is that okay?
