Last Friday, I was on a bus to somewhere, a very old auntie, Chinese, 70 years old to say the least, was standing there and beside her was a young India lady who was seated comfortably, she even checked up and down on auntie but nvr suggested to give the seat. Sitting beside her was his son, I believe, shouldn't she set a good example to her son?? Btw, it was crowded and auntie was small size so other commuters didn't notice her. It was until many ppl alighted that she was given a seat by a Malay girl, my thumbs up to the girl of coz... Where is the bus etiquette now??? I hv seen a lot of such cases!!! Ppl would criticize me for complicating things if I say it is maybe bcoz It was a India lady and a Chinese auntie, but... Nvr mind, let's focus on bus etiquette/courtesy! Thx!
orh horrrrrrrrr
u racist!
ISD will come catch u
NO! i like anyone who shows common courtesy..
To be fair, some elderly people are very "hao lian" one, if you give up the seat, they will scold you being "dumb" behind your back or some stubborn one just stared at you or some just refuse to sit.
And how can we forget the famous 'priority seat auntie' case in MRT ? : http://sgforums.com/forums/3317/topics/454276

I rmbr the story la, but it was a isolated case I still believe, and should not second the idea that those unreasonable minority will excuse us from doing basic "good". Hehe
Not necessary only the passengers right infront or next to. Any seated passenger in the bus can give up their seats to that old lady.
I have seen several times passengers few rows away gave up their seats for the needy.
You simply cannot fault the indian lady, for she has her son next to her. Some children get anxious/nervous when they are seated next to strangers because they rely on their parents to tell them where to alight.
Seats near the exit are preferable for older people as they do not need to squeeze through crowded bus to get off.

from what i read you have the intention to start a flame war or make this thread hot with flaimng. tyou can leave out the race and just mentioned their gender can already.
there is something call netiaquette so before you even comment on bustiqutte ponder yourself do you have netiquette first? if no dont kaypoh just mind your own business. things will work itself out , even on crowded buses.

I can not blame you at all for mistaking me bcoz I mentioned race indeed, but I really want to emphasize on bus etiquette. My mind was kind of troubled when I wrote above, as I saw another thread whose arthor was apparently a Indian, said how he was looked down upon and unfairly treated in Singapore and concluded that with racism. That is false accusation in my view. In my writing, I somehow decided to mention the race, as I believe race is not the explanation in my case, I will not explain it by racism as the Indian poster did in other thread, which was totally ignorant and unwarranted!
