Guess nothing happen, after seeing all the negative in business indicator, they should drop the ideas for good, especially so at the present moment where many locals business are even moving into iskander's industrial
for medium and MNC companies where they hire lots of workers, mayb controlled number of foriegn labor is needed. sg land rental many times higher, that's why they moved.
but those businesses that hire not much worker, like small restorant, hawker stall, you say rental high i believe, but when say workers pay high? comne on , one stall hire only 2-3 workers how high will that be? in this type of situation shold not let foreign lbaor take our places!
The booming of singapore business is not just because of good managment, good infrastructure and good investment. The main reason is accessible to cheap labour, let me give you a simple SME pub example.
Formerly, i need to employ perm 12 staffs, 8 sgs, 4 malaysians, and the highest, i have to pay him $7k to run the show with other perks, altogether, my total cost of labour (all inclusive with bonuses and other levy cost) is on average 60k per month.
And this amount increases every year, then Govt open up the gate for foreign entry, Maniam, subrata, raja, with philippino like John, Marcelo, Alice, Felicia, and with PRC like zheng tong, xiao ling, Qui Mei..
I only use 25k per month on average, that alone save me few hundred thousands per year, cheap young and energetic, keep working, no good, send back, get another one who is alway ready to enter. I do not even need to give bonuses, or extensive leaves. It is all base on contract, and paid will only increase only renewer of contract every 2 years, and as time goes by, I can save millions.
So, we open more pubs down duxton and club st and employ more cheap peoples, now you see the picture, without cheap labour, singapore can never be what it is today.
