Hi guys,
I was 1 year from NUS in 2006, after tt kena expelled for grades and attendance, then I went to MDIS for private diploma. Serve NS for 2 years, then went to Australia for FY in Sydney. Never make the GPA because of distance from school to home.
In the end, had to come back, now 22 years old turning 23 this year. Not even a degree, and working right now. Any advice on what I should do next? I was thinking of going to polytechnic or Kaplan, I'm repeating my A's again this year.
thx mod

Its quite obvious u r not the academic type.
Go learn a skill instead. Skill based jobs.. like carpenter, chef, machinery operators, truck drivers etc.etc..
It's okie...
Learning until old (everyone is actually learning thru-out our life time).
I got some kakis whom went to complete their diplomas after their National Service.
If you got the will.... you will suceed.
Many, at your age are heading to the working society, but if you are still keen to upgrade yourself, 20plus, is the best age to invest a few more years and.... hoping, you could achieve your degree along the way (don't stop at A levels).
Don't stop half way... Move forward.

Welcome to the real world. It is harsh. By hook or by crook, you gotta complete your A-levels. The world is cruel and very judgmental - they only see your qualifications.
If you want to get married - start family life - buy the things you want - own nice car - own nice home - spend money for hobbies - buy iphone, then need to pass your A-levels and progress on.
If you don't give a damn - become waiter - wear rags - be single forever - do only the things you like to do but most of time cannot afford anything. Then don't give a shit about your a-levels.

I dun have a Degree or a A levels.
But my apartment in Bishan is fully paid. My (9months old) Mercedes Benz Viano is also fully paid. Good academic background is essential but it is not everything. Plan your career path carefully and be street wise.
I owns a few businesses.
Go and start a bussiness if you dont wanna end up in a RAT RACE like everybody else.
Waiting and waiting for end of the month pay. Its not the end for you if you're not good academically. Trust your instincts and do what you like!
@just do it lah,
How old are you? Is your business really fluorishing??? What kind of business you doin?

You inherited your father business is it?
Tell me what you do and how you succeeded without academic background. Only then I am convinced you did it out of your own effort.

I know a friend just like Just Do It Lah. His father thought of a brilliant idea and then copyrighted it. From thereon the business flourished and then the father passed down the business to his sons. The son is able to marry a former miss world and live in big house with big car and many servants because of the father achievements.

Then what business are you doing?
So I can evaluate whether it is something you work out of your own effort.
Maybe there is something we don't know.
For example, I have a friend who is in construction, he is very successful because he has connections with some important people in the gahmen.
And then there is another construction businessman whom I know, he receive a lot of business because of skin color.

Hi guys,
Got Diploma in IT from MDIS, and was offered a job as Service Technician in Tai Seng. I was doing Sciences this year, but thinking of switching to arts.
I understand you concerns to business setup etc. as Singapore's startup is good, but I seriously buay tahan my "A" Levels anymore. I got some friends go through poly, 26 then NUS, some doing business startup.
I got other frens who have migrated overseas and doing well down there.
Worked a few labour jobs but realized I have academic talent on my side(I am JC alumni).
The reason I am hardup for local U is because of my background. Both my parents well-educated and my Dad is doing good in his industry, so me stepping out into the workforce as a service technician might be a little awkward.
My clear aim is Nanyang Business School or SMU Accountancy/Business
I need an AAB for the above. I got 19 without CCA L1R5 during "O" Levels so I am confident of my ability.
Any ideas?
