We should benchmark with a similar country, the third world folks will always suffer more.

This is something that I would not want myself or my children to experience when we grow old. Need to save more money while we are still young.
The question is, do we have enough income to save? Or you consider CPF minimum sum as enough?
I don't consider CPF minimum sum to be enough because it is based on inflation rates which on salary isn't based on. Life can be tough sometimes if your salary remains fairly flat for the next ten twenty years, hardly rising for non executive positions and facing age discrimination as you become older. Jobs become harder to find and with higher certification requirements it has become more competitive to stay afloat. In 10 years time, the CPF minimum sum most prob will be 350,000 sgd or more. I dun understand why the government increase the CPF minimum sum but didn't fight for higher salary pay for everyone and instead focus on hiring cheaper foreign labour to make life tougher for their citizens. I hope they find a way to balance the situation.

Because of the PAP ideology of "GDP GROWTH at ALL COST"? How can there be any balance when you put money before compassion? Not everyone in this world are born equal, so we need compassion in order to have some reasonable balance.

Don't depend on those who have money to show compassion. Showing compassion, love, sympathy...should be in everybody's mind and heart, whether you are in a communist country, captitalist country, country run by elected government or tyranny...because there are always people who are worse off than you!!
The worse thing that can happen and is happening now is that everybody is waiting for somebody else to show compassion.
Need more money?
so so...for more time
it is so sad to see elderly people having to work when they should be enjoying and slowing down. Can't help but think that our society today is a result of our government's continuous "threat" that we must remain competitive. When you keep brainwashing your people to be kiasus, they will only become self-centered and chasing materialism all the time. How else can you explain "kids" not able to care for their elderly???
Today
young people take taxis while the old folk takes buses and MRT.
young people drink starbuck coffee while old folk drink in kopitiam.
young people eat in food court while old folk eat in hawker center.
Old folk kiasus because they had many mouths to feed, young people kiasus because they always don't have enough for themselves.
Don't fu king blame anybody else for not looking after the elderly.
Thanks for sharing! I have created a campaign in www.crowdcauses.com. This campaign is to bless the homeless in chinatown/ bras basah area. But, I do need support in funds and people to join me. Do take a look at it and support if you can! Thank you!
