Retirement age is now 62. nobody force you to retire at 55, question is, does your company wants you? I see so many aunker auntie still working, think they are 60 already. Ask them why they work, they said at home nothing to do.
I think I will retire at 50, got enough money, got enough energy, got many thing to do for fun.
Remember, retirement is your choice and your employer's choice.

55 is not too old. 55 get your hard earn CPF money then decide whether you want to retire in Singapore or outside Singapore. What you want to do with your money. When you retire at 55 you can still work on contract basis or part- time basis. That was the ways of the past. Now the CPF change so much. If your CPF failed to reach the minimum sum then you will receive small amount of money from your CPF on a monthly basis..usually 200 plus or 300 plus dollars a month. If you stay in Singapore, I think you will continue to work until you die...no retirement for average Singaporeans.
hehehe...this is the foreign talents mentality, make money in Singapore and spend it elsewhere.

Singaporeans are made for Singapore. I think that's the difference.

The fact now Singapore is a 1st world country and the cost of living is high now. That has changed the whole concept and view about living, working and retiring within Singaporeans mindset.
Singapore is still sustaining to be 1st, or nearly. Costly, yes - but there are rooms for more improvements. Singapore remains the motherland to those who matter, whatever happens.

Those who matter make the matter matter. Singapore shall remain, still.
Good nite, Joe.

I want them to vacate all their current positions. They are not willing to put Singaporeans first make it a very valid reason to ask them to leave. No nation in the world wants a govt who are not into providing good care to citizens.

It is a insult when we are sponsoring all the students from the rest of the world free schooling and free lodging while we cannot afford to pay the school fees for our own kids who are born here.

Very well said buddy, there is no perfect country in the world, there are rooms for improvement everywhere in the world, and what matters is where do you consider your motherland, where are you going to make the difference.

Well the FTs and especially the Malaysians are smart to make themselves wealthier than Singaporeans. Besides that most citizens from 1st world countries are retiring outside their own country because its practical and rational....cost of living is lower and affordable for their retirement.
you can't retire in Singapore? get out of here and we will have no problem with old age in Singapore. Good luck angke.

I did query my department before why is it for Malaysian workers their Singapore employers do not need to secure the S$5000 security bond before their job employment whereas the other foreigners from other countries need to have that security bond. Malaysian workers are foreigners too. They can't answer my query or they don't know how to answer my query.
may have a country to country agreement on this.

Haha..I'm already into semi-retirement and staying in JB. Working on assignment basis in Singapore to make more money now. Precisely, aren't the ruling government seeing that...just release all the Singaporeans CPF amount..they will know what to do with their money and how to retire. Good luck to you ah boy when retire in Singapore later.
hehe...anker, I don't have to live in JB. I go to JB to play golf, I fly to bangkok for hot spa and massage, I go to JKT to meet up with my friends for a meal, all back in the same day. I don't feel well I see doctors whom I can trust. I never lock my main gate in the night, my children can take bus and MRT to Orchard Road with their friends...there are so many things we are doing here...we can afford it here, no need live in exile.
you stretch your money by spending less, I increase my money by investment, and in Singapore, there are many ways and opportunities. We are of different calibre.
If you were unable to work well enough to save up for retirement in Singapore, how can you be trusted with that little CPF money for your old age? I know many Singaporean spent their CPF money with women from mainland China, can happen to you in JB ...how long can you last? the ruling government see that, very clearly!!

Haha..even the super rich don't stay in Singapore. Their family in K.L., Bali, Thailand or Jakarta. They fly back to their home and family outside Singapore. They only invest in Singapore to make money. About foreign FTs, especially white people...they do that too. I know one white foreign banker living in JB instead of Singapore simply because there is more space and save money. The simple fact is clear, the ruling government don't want Singaporeans to spend their hard earn CPF on property outside Singapore and leave Singapore. About those Singaporeans lost their money to foreign women overseas...they are stupid Singaporeans...their faults. As my case, I'm debt free, got house in JB and married...many Singaporeans rent out their HDB flats in Singapore and stay in JB...no need to worry about cost of living..or work long hours in Singapore. That is good enough for them to survive or retire.
Millions of us living in Singapore, thousands of motorbikes line up for miles every morning, breathing fumes to come in to Singapore to work...I thank them for providing the necessary services to our country. I am glad they can make enough to live happily, at least in JB, since Singapore is too expensive for them.
The Singapore want foreigners to spend money here, we have thousands of tourists coming in here spending money, but your little hard earned CPF money, if you spend it too quickly, you will become a social burden to us, if you are a Singaporean.
Spend your little money wisely, don't buy anything you cannot afford. Most importantly, don't go to MBS, Santosa, or Genting...you can't depend on luck.
