WHERE SINGAPORE GOVERNMENT GET ITS REVENUE

I guess this present government will not be the only administration that will do this. I believe if there is a change of government to the coalition parties or single party ruling in Singapore in the future, they will do likewise as the current government. Singapore has no mineral resources and we only have manpower to generate income for the country interest. We depended heavily on global economy to support Singapore. And of course there are other revenues too.... 1. Foreign Workers - Work Permits - Monthly Levy 2. COEs & Road Taxes 3. Tobacco Taxes 4. Traffic and Parking Fines 5. CPF etcs...the list goes on...

I won't disagree that the government need to tax its citizens in order to have the finances to run the country.
But I would disagree at how the citizens money are used to buy big houses and big fancy cars and to pay for their children's expenses only to have their kids ask the normal citizens to get out of their elite uncaring face. And not only that, these people have to setup tricks like a dormant company to makan more money from the tax payers indirectly.
In such aspect, I have more confidence in the morals and integrity of the opposition parties. They are not in for the money. They have something to fight for other than the money. If PAP are really doing their best, with top morals, good integrity, then they won't have to supervise the Singapore media so hard to boost their reputation. The fact that they have to supervise and control the Singapore media speaks alot about how worried they are on the many skeletons hidden in their closets... which every now and then, 1 or 2 skeletons fall out of the closet.

Initially, ERPs are meant to control traffic flows in the morning peak hours to the city areas and now evening peak hours has ERPs fee if you want to go back home early. The ERPs thing has divert from its original course. -

Malaysian's registered cars coming in to Singapore in the morning have to pay $20 per entry from Monday to Saturday. After 6pm is free. Sunday is free. Holidays too are free. But they are not allowed to exceed their stay in Singapore at a certain hours.. I think until 2am or slightly later... if the next day is a working day and they will be fine another $20 upon their exit to Johor Baru should they exceeded the time limit in Singapore.

Every government imposes some form of taxation on it's people. Governments do this to run a country. So there is no running away from taxes. In Singapore we have some institutions and government linked companies that exist to try to add to the GDP of the country. On a comparative basis, we have to accept the facts and figures show we have out performed many countries , even those which possess natural resources! So you got to give credit where credit is due especially to the first generation PAP leaders of Singapore. However in the recent past decade and a half clearly the gap between the rich elites and the poor plebeians have widen, and continues to widen. When this happens we see clear fault-lines emerging and that is certainly not a desirable effect of growth!
